The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. The hitch is rated for a maximum of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
The hitch is designed for use with CURT ball mount #45521. Euro mount options are also available: #45571 (1 7/8" ball) and #45572 (2" ball).
Non-trailer (wheel-less) loads can be attached, but they must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads with these straps will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or www.curtmfg.com for further information on stabilizing straps.
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, 6" socket extension, 10mm and 11/16" sockets, power drill, 1/4" step drill bit, die grinder, aviation shears, safety glasses, screwdriver, and masking tape. Using proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce installation time.

Yes, drilling is required. You must drill two rear-most holes using a 1/4" drill bit, then enlarge all four holes to 1/2" diameter using a 1/4" step drill bit. These holes are drilled into the frame rails on both the driver and passenger sides.
Yes, heat shield trimming is required. You must mark out a 9.25" x 10.50" section using masking tape and trim the heat shield. The heat shield is temporarily removed using three 10mm bolts, trimmed, and then reinstalled.
Remove three plastic push pins from the fascia and four rubber isolators to lower the exhaust. Additionally, locate and remove the plastic exhaust bracket behind the wheel and fascia, and set it aside for reinstallation. The exhaust is reinstalled in reverse order after the hitch is torqued.
All 7/16" hardware (carriage bolts and hex flange nuts) must be torqued to 59 ft-lbs. This torque is applied after the hitch is raised into position and all fasteners are loosely fastened.
The kit includes: four 7/16-14 x 1 1/2" carriage bolts, four CM-SP2 spacers (.250 x .88 x 2.25" square hole), four 7/16-14 hex flange nuts, and four 7/16" fishwire. Two conical tooth washers are also used but not listed in the parts list.
Fishwire is a flexible wire used to route fasteners through tight spaces. In step 4, you fishwire two 7/16" carriage bolts and two CM-SP2 spacers through the access hole located towards the front of each frame rail before raising the hitch into position.
1. Remove fascia push pins and exhaust isolators; remove and set aside the plastic exhaust bracket. 2. Remove heat shield bolts, mark and trim the heat shield to 9.25" x 10.50", and reinstall. 3. Raise hitch using forward holes to mark rear holes; drill rear holes with 1/4" bit, then enlarge all four holes to 1/2" with step drill bit. 4. Fishwire two carriage bolts and two spacers through front access holes on each frame rail. 5. Raise hitch and loosely fasten conical tooth washers and hex flange nuts. 6. Torque all 7/16" hardware to 59 ft-lbs and reinstall exhaust in reverse order.
