This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Toyota C-HR (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

You will need: a ratchet, 10mm socket, 12mm socket, 13mm socket, torque wrench, flat head screwdriver, hammer, and safety glasses. A 12mm socket is used to remove bumper bolts, and a 13mm socket is used to install the hitch fasteners.
No, drilling is not required. The CURT 11490 uses existing holes and weldnuts on the vehicle's rear frame for installation.
Two people may be required to ease installation. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
You must remove: (2) underbody panels (held by 14 push pin fasteners and 3 twist type fasteners), the lower rear fascia (held by 6 blue fascia clips), and the bumper beam assembly (held by 8 bolts using a 12mm socket). The bumper beam and its flange bolts should be returned to the vehicle owner.
Using a hammer, you must flatten the tabs on the end of the bumper beam assembly so they are flush. This is a required step to prepare the bumper beam before raising the hitch into position.
All M8-1.25 x 25 hex flange bolts must be torqued to 23 lb-ft. The hitch comes with 8 of these bolts. Install them loosely first with a 13mm socket, then torque to the specified value.
The CURT 11490 includes 8 M8-1.25 x 25 hex flange bolts. These are the only fasteners supplied with the hitch.
After torquing the hitch fasteners to 23 lb-ft, reinstall the lower bumper fascia in reverse order of removal (step 6), then reinstall the remaining underbody panels that were removed in step 1 (step 7).
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product.
The CURT 18050 stabilizing straps are required for all non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to the hitch. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads with these straps will void the product warranty. For further information, see the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com.
