Connect to your lifestyle with a custom hitch receiver from CURT. All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Volkswagen Jetta (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you?re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

The CURT 115403 Class 1 Trailer Hitch with Ball Mount, 1-1/4-In Receiver, Fits Select Volkswagen Jetta (Part #BKDK115403) Drilling is not required for installation. Typical installation time is 30-60 minutes. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, CURT hitch 11540 is designed for 2019-Present Volkswagen Jetta Sedan models. It is a weight-carrying hitch with a maximum trailer weight capacity of 2,000 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. Always verify your vehicle's manufacturer-recommended towing capacity before towing.
CURT hitch 11540 is designed for use with ball mount #45521. Euro mount options are available with ball mount #45571 (1 7/8" ball) or #45572 (2" ball).
CURT hitch 11540 has a maximum trailer weight capacity of 2,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs when used as a weight-carrying hitch. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Required tools are: torque wrench, ratchet, 6" extension, 10mm socket, 13mm socket, 11/16" socket, screwdriver, utility knife, aviation shears, T27 Torx bit, tape measure, and safety glasses. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce installation time.
No, drilling is not required. The hitch uses fishwiring to route fasteners through existing access holes in the frame rails.
Yes, two modifications are required: the heat shield must be trimmed where the hitch fasteners mount, and the passenger side underbody panel must be trimmed as needed. The exhaust system must also be lowered and supported during installation. These are permanent modifications necessary for proper fitment.
Two people may be required to ease installation. While one person may be able to complete the installation, having a second person will help, particularly when positioning the hitch over the muffler and raising the exhaust back into position.
The installation is rated as moderate difficulty. Before beginning, read all instructions thoroughly. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance, or call CURT Technical Support at 800.798.0813.
The hitch includes: 4 carriage bolts (7/16-14 x 1 1/2), 4 hex flange nuts (7/16-14), 4 square hole spacers (CM-SP2, .250 x .88 x 2.25"), and 4 pieces of 7/16" fishwire.
All 7/16" fasteners (carriage bolts and hex flange nuts) must be torqued to 59 lb.-ft.
Fishwiring is a method of routing fasteners through existing access holes in the vehicle frame without drilling. For CURT hitch 11540, you fishwire the 4 supplied 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers into position through the access slot on both sides of the frame rails before positioning the hitch. This allows the hitch to mount securely to the frame without creating new holes.
No, you do not need to remove the exhaust system completely. You must lower it: remove 1 bolt from each of the 2 exhaust hanger brackets over the muffler using a 13mm socket, support the exhaust, and remove 1 formed washer nut from the forward underbody panel to allow the exhaust to drop further. After the hitch is installed, reinstall the exhaust hangers and forward formed washer nut.
1. Remove the passenger side underbody panel (3 screws with T27 Torx bit, 2 plastic nuts with 10mm socket). 2. Lower the exhaust by removing bolts from hanger brackets and supporting it. 3. Remove the heat shield (3 formed washer nuts), mark and cut it where fasteners will mount, then reinstall it. 4. Fishwire the 4 carriage bolts and spacers through the access slots. 5. Position the hitch over the muffler and raise the exhaust back into position, ensuring the rearward exhaust hanger sits in the notch on the side plate. 6. Loosely install the hex flange nuts, then torque all 7/16" fasteners to 59 lb.-ft. 7. Trim the underbody panel as needed and reinstall it, then reinstall the exhaust hangers and forward washer nut.
Wear safety glasses at all times while installing this product. Support the exhaust properly when it is lowered to prevent injury. Be careful not to push the carriage bolts into the frame rail when positioning the hitch. If you are hesitant to undertake this task, contact an authorized CURT installer.
No. All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. For more information, see the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com.
After installation, verify that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners remain tight and all structural components remain in good condition during use.
You should periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular inspection before towing is recommended.
