This CURT class 2 hitch is perfect for towing a small trailer, such as a boat trailer, lightweight camper or utility trailer. It can also be used to mount a hitch cargo carrier or bike rack (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 2 trailer hitch is made for a vehicle-specific fit. It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with select years of the Toyota Avalon and Camry (see application info to verify fitment). It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. It is also equipped with 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch receiver to accept the included ball mount. The ball mount that comes with this hitch kit has a 3/4" trailer ball hole and can be positioned in the drop or rise orientation for level towing with your specific trailer (trailer ball not included). Like all CURT custom receiver hitches, this class 2 hitch is designed, manufactured, finished and tested with the utmost care. It is engineered for a precise fit, easy installation, maximum towing strength and an integrated look on the vehicle. It is also tested to SAE J684 protocols for safety. This class 2 trailer hitch is finished with our industry-leading dual-coat process for unparalleled rust, chip and UV resistance. It is descaled for a smooth surface, submersed in liquid A-coat for rust prevention inside and out, covered with a highly durable powder coat, and finally co-cured for a dependable shield against the elements. This class 2 hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin and mounting hardware for a complete installation.

The CURT 121073 Class 2 Trailer Hitch with Ball Mount, 1-1/4-In Receiver, Fits Select Toyota Avalon, Camry (Part #BKDK121073) Drilling is required for installation. Typical installation time is 30-60 minutes. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, CURT part number 12107 is designed for Toyota Camry and Avalon sedans from 2012 to present. This is a weight-carrying hitch with a maximum trailer weight capacity of 3500 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs. Always verify your vehicle matches the year and model before purchasing.
The CURT 12107 is rated for a maximum trailer weight of 3500 lbs and tongue weight of 350 lbs when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than the hitch rating.
Required tools include: ratchet, torque wrench, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm and 3/4" sockets, power drill with 1/2" bit, die grinder, aviation shears, tape measure, and marker. Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation.
Two people may be required to ease installation. While one person may be able to complete the installation, having a second person will help with raising and lowering the hitch into position during the process.
Yes, underbody panel removal is required. You must remove the underbody panel if it covers the driver side frame. This involves removing 4 screws (7 on single exhaust models) using a 10mm socket in the bumper fascia, 2 push-button fasteners (4 on single exhaust models), 3 plastic nuts using a 10mm socket towards the front, and 2 plastic nuts using a 12mm socket in the center of the panel. On single exhaust models, also remove 1 screw attaching the underbody cover to the driver side frame rail.
Yes, temporary lowering of the exhaust is required. You must remove 2 bolts which attach exhaust hanger brackets to the passenger side frame rail and remove the rubber isolator located forward of the muffler. The exhaust is raised back into position and rubber isolators are reinstalled after the hitch is secured.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill a 1/2" pilot hole in each frame rail as marked during the temporary positioning step. You must also make a 1" hole in the heat shield(s) at the marked location. The drilled holes in the frame rails are then enlarged to accept the spacers and carriage bolts, being careful not to damage the existing weldnuts.
Yes, heat shield trimming is required. You must remove the heat shield by removing 2 screws which secure it to the frame rail, then trim off the rearmost section of the heat shield. The trim dimensions are 11" on the passenger side and 8" on the driver side (if present). After drilling, the trimmed heat shield is reinstalled using only the forward most screw.
Trimming the underbody panel is optional. If you decide to trim it, use the provided underbody panel trim diagram which shows a 5/8" diameter opening. You can either reinstall the trimmed panel on the vehicle or return it to the vehicle owner. The panel removal itself is required, but trimming versus returning it to the owner is your choice.
Torque all M10 fasteners to 45 lb.-ft. Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb.-ft. These torque values must be applied after all fasteners are installed and the hitch is in its final position.
The CURT 12107 includes: 4 conical toothed washers (3/8"), 4 hex bolts (M10-1.25 x 35), 2 square hole spacers (CM-SP10, .250 x 1.00 x 2.50"), 2 carriage bolts (1/2-13 x 1 1/4, GR8), 2 hex flange nuts (HFN 1213, GR8), and 2 pieces of 1/2" fishwire. The hitch uses existing weldnuts in the frame rails.
The CURT 12107 is designed for use with ball mount D-55001 or 45501. Euro mount options are available: part number 45571 (1 7/8" ball) and part number 45572 (2" ball).
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before beginning installation, read all instructions thoroughly. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance. Technical support is available at 1-800-798-0813.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection is critical to safe operation and is mentioned multiple times in the manual as a requirement for maintaining the warranty and safe use of the hitch.
Yes. All non-trailer loads (wheel-less loads) applied to this product must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. For further information about stabilizing straps, see the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com.
The reverse fishwire technique is used to thread the supplied spacers and carriage bolts up through the enlarged holes drilled in the frame rails. You reverse fishwire the spacers and carriage bolts up through the enlarged holes, leaving the fishwires attached. The fishwires are then threaded through the side plates when the hitch is raised back into position. A detailed diagram of this technique is provided in the manual.
Yes. You must bend the tab on the exhaust hanger bracket(s) so that it rests flat on the surface of the side plate(s). This is done before reinstalling the heat shield and raising the hitch back into position.
Reinstall the trimmed heat shield using only the forward most screw. The rearward edge of the heat shield should be compressed between the frame rail and the edge of the hitch side plate. This allows the hitch to fit properly while maintaining some heat protection.
When raising the hitch back into position, reinstall the exhaust hanger bracket with the hitch positioned between it and the frame. Thread the fishwires through the side plates while installing the supplied fasteners. Install all remaining supplied fasteners. This ensures the exhaust hanger is properly secured with the hitch in place.
Yes. If your vehicle is equipped with dual exhaust, you must repeat steps 2 through 4 (lowering exhaust, removing brackets, and trimming heat shield) on the driver side in addition to the passenger side. Single exhaust models require additional fastener removal during underbody panel removal (7 screws instead of 4, and 4 push-button fasteners instead of 2).
Yes. You must remove 2 brackets from the frame using a 14mm socket. These brackets and their fasteners should be returned to the vehicle owner. The brackets are later reinstalled with the hitch positioned between the bracket and the frame.
Yes, the CURT 12107 is designed for Toyota Camry and Avalon sedans from 2012 to present. It is rated for 3500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight, but never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
You need: ratchet, torque wrench, 10mm/12mm/14mm/17mm/3/4" sockets, power drill with 1/2" bit, die grinder, aviation shears, tape measure, marker, and safety glasses. Two people are recommended.
Yes. You must drill a 1/2" pilot hole in each frame rail and a 1" hole in the heat shield(s). The frame rail holes are then enlarged to accept the spacers and carriage bolts. Heat shield trimming (11" passenger side, 8" driver side) and underbody panel removal are also required.
Torque all M10 fasteners to 45 lb.-ft and all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb.-ft. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness.
The CURT 12107 is rated for 3500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. All non-trailer loads must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps.
Yes. You must temporarily lower the exhaust by removing 2 bolts from the exhaust hanger brackets on the passenger side frame rail and removing the rubber isolator forward of the muffler. Repeat on the driver side if your vehicle has dual exhaust. The exhaust is raised back into position after the hitch is secured.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This is essential for safe operation and warranty compliance.
Ensure you have trimmed the rearmost section of the heat shield according to the trim diagram (11" on passenger side, 8" on driver side). The trimmed heat shield should be reinstalled using only the forward most screw, allowing the rearward edge to compress between the frame rail and the edge of the hitch side plate. If compression is still inadequate, verify the trim dimensions are correct.
Refer to the Reverse Fishwire Technique Diagram in the manual (referenced on page 4, sheet 2). The spacers and carriage bolts should be reverse fishwired up through the enlarged holes with the fishwires remaining attached. The fishwires are then threaded through the side plates when the hitch is raised back into position. If you are having difficulty with this technique, contact CURT technical support at 1-800-798-0813.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight. If fasteners have loosened, retorque all M10 fasteners to 45 lb.-ft and all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb.-ft using a torque wrench. Loose fasteners can compromise the structural integrity of the hitch and may void the warranty.
