This CURT class 2 hitch is perfect for towing a small trailer, such as a boat trailer, lightweight camper or utility trailer. It can also be used to mount a hitch cargo carrier or bike rack (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 2 trailer hitch is made for a vehicle-specific fit. It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with select years of the Buick LaCrosse, Buick Regal, Cadillac CTS, Chevrolet Impala and Chevrolet Malibu (see application info to verify fitment). It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. It is also equipped with 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch receiver to accept the included ball mount. The ball mount that comes with this hitch kit has a 3/4" trailer ball hole and can be positioned in the drop or rise orientation for level towing with your specific trailer (trailer ball not included). Like all CURT custom receiver hitches, this class 2 hitch is designed, manufactured, finished and tested with the utmost care. It is engineered for a precise fit, easy installation, maximum towing strength and an integrated look on the vehicle. It is also tested to SAE J684 protocols for safety. This class 2 trailer hitch is finished with our industry-leading dual-coat process for unparalleled rust, chip and UV resistance. It is descaled for a smooth surface, submersed in liquid A-coat for rust prevention inside and out, covered with a highly durable powder coat, and finally co-cured for a dependable shield against the elements. This class 2 hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin and mounting hardware for a complete installation.

Curt 12115 is rated for a maximum of 3500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
Curt 12115 is designed for use with Euro Mount #45571 (1 7/8" ball) and #45572 (2" ball), or with ball mount #D-225/45017.
Required tools are: power drill, torque wrench, 13mm and 3/4" sockets, ratchet, wire pipe brush, aviation shears, and 1/2" drill bit. Safety glasses should be worn at all times during installation.
The kit includes: 5 hex flange nuts (HFN 1213, GR8), 4 carriage bolts (1/2-13 x 1 1/2, GR8), 2 hex bolts (1/2-13 x 1 1/2, GR8), 2 hex bolts (M8-1.25 x 55mm), 1 handle nut (1/2-13), 2 lock washers (1/2"), 2 conical toothed washers (3/8"), 2 hex nuts (M8-1.25), and 1 wedge spacer (CM-SP38).
Two people may be required to ease installation. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized Curt installer for additional assistance.
Professional installation time is approximately 50 minutes. Novice (DIY) installation time is approximately 50 minutes minimum. Actual time may vary depending on experience and vehicle condition.
Yes, drilling is required on select models. Specifically, on Buick Lacrosse (AWD) and Cadillac XTS models, you must enlarge the rearward hole in the suspension cross member to 1/2" using a power drill with a 1/2" drill bit.
Yes, trimming is required on Impala models only. You must trim approximately a 1 1/4 inch deep notch from each side of the bottom bumper fascia using aviation shears. This is not required on Malibu, Regal, Lacrosse, or XTS models.
The 1/2" bolt with handle nut must be torqued to 75 lb-ft.
All 1/2" hardware other than the bolt with handle nut must be torqued to 110 lb-ft.
All 8mm hardware must be torqued to 23 lb-ft.
You must remove one 8mm bolt from the exhaust hanger bracket on each side of the vehicle as the first step. After cleaning the weldnut with a wire brush or spray lubricant, you will reuse the existing weldnuts and secure the bracket back in place with the provided 8mm bolts and conical toothed washers.
Use bolt on bracket (1) if you have a FWD vehicle built before mid-year 2013. Use bolt on bracket (2) if you have an AWD vehicle or a FWD vehicle built mid-year 2013 to present.
In step 5, you raise the center section into place and loosely secure the 5 half-inch hardware components first. Then you torque the 1/2" bolt with handle nut to 75 lb-ft, all other 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft, and the 8mm hardware to 23 lb-ft. Do not fully tighten fasteners until instructed to do so in the final torque step.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Although Curt 12115 is rated for 3500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight, your vehicle's manufacturer may specify a lower limit, and you must follow the lower of the two.
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by Curt 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. Curt recommends the use of 18050 stabilizing straps for all non-trailer loads.
After installation is complete, periodically check that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This is essential for safe operation and to maintain warranty coverage.
You should periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular inspection before towing is recommended.
