Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Yes, part number 36538 fits the Buick LaCrosse. However, you must use bracket "B" (not bracket "A") and you will need to enlarge the rearward hole on the vehicle suspension mount to accept a ½" bolt using a ½" drill bit. See Figure 3 in the manual for the location.
Yes. On the Cadillac XTS, you must enlarge the rearward hole on the vehicle suspension mount to accept a ½" bolt. Use a ½" drill bit to enlarge this hole. See Figure 3 in the manual for the location.
Use bracket "B" on the Buick LaCrosse. Bracket "A" is used on Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Impala, Buick Regal, and Cadillac XTS. Bracket "B" is also used on all FWD models before mid-year 2013 with a wedge spacer.
No. The wedge spacer (item 11) is required only on FWD models before mid-year 2013. If your Malibu is mid-year 2013 or later, you do not need the spacer. Use bracket "A" without the spacer.
You will need wrenches in sizes 10mm, 13mm, 9/16", and 3/4". A tape measure is required only for Impala models. A ½" drill bit is required only for Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac XTS models to enlarge the suspension mount hole.
The hitch includes: 2× M8 × 1.25 × 55mm hex bolts (CL10.9), 5× ½-13 hex nuts, 4× ½" flat washers, 1× ½-13 × 1.50" hex bolt (GR5), 2× 3/8" conical washers, 1× ½-13 × 2.00" hex bolt (GR5), 2× M8 × 1.25 hex nuts, 1× ½-13 handle nut, 4× ½-13 × 1.50" carriage bolts (GR5), 7× ½" conical washers, 1× wedge spacer, and 2× 5/16" flat washers. The fastener kit 36538F is sold separately.
The manual does not specify whether the tailpipe must be removed. However, Step 1 requires you to remove and replace the existing inner tailpipe hanger 8mm bolt on both sides. Consult the vehicle service manual or a professional installer to determine if tailpipe removal is necessary for access.
1. Remove and replace the inner tailpipe hanger 8mm bolts on both sides. 2. Install the forward hitch bracket (A or B depending on model) and hand-tighten only. 3. Raise the rearward section of the hitch over the 8mm bolts and hand-tighten. 4. Install the ½" carriage bolts into the hitch support plate. 5. Raise the center section and hand-tighten. 6. Attach the forward end of the center section to the forward bracket and hand-tighten. 7. Torque all fasteners to specification. Do not fully tighten any fasteners until Step 7.
Hand-tighten all fasteners during Steps 1–6. Only in Step 7, after all sections are in place and aligned, should you use a torque wrench to tighten all fasteners to their final specifications. This allows the hitch sections to pivot and align properly before final tightening.
For Chevrolet Impala and Cadillac XTS models, use the forward holes on the support plate when installing the ½" carriage bolts in Step 4. For Chevrolet Malibu, Buick Regal, and Buick LaCrosse models, use the rearward holes.
The conical washers must be installed with the teeth side against the hitch. This orientation is critical for proper fastening and load distribution.
