The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. On the Buick Verano driver's side only, you must: (1) lower the exhaust by removing the bolt on the exhaust hanger and removing the exhaust hanger bracket; (2) lower or trim the heat shield to access the frame rail attachment holes; and (3) remove three speed nuts (two at the rear of the heat shield and one forward of the muffler). After hitch installation, reinstall the exhaust hanger and heat shield if it was lowered.
The manual does not indicate that drilling is required. However, on the Buick Verano, the heat shield may need to be trimmed to allow access to the frame rail attachment holes.

On the Buick Verano, slide the hitch into position over the exhaust from the rear of the vehicle, sandwiching the heat shield between the hitch and the frame rail. On the Chevrolet Cruze, raise the hitch over the exhaust into position. In both cases, feed the pull wire through the slots on the hitch, then push the hitch against the frame rails.
