This CURT class 2 hitch is perfect for towing a small trailer, such as a boat trailer, lightweight camper or utility trailer. It can also be used to mount a hitch cargo carrier or bike rack (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 2 trailer hitch is made for a vehicle-specific fit. It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with select years of the Mercedes-Benz CLA250 (see application info to verify fitment). It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. It is also equipped with 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch receiver to accept the included ball mount. The ball mount that comes with this hitch kit has a 3/4" trailer ball hole and can be positioned in the drop or rise orientation for level towing with your specific trailer (trailer ball not included). Like all CURT custom receiver hitches, this class 2 hitch is designed, manufactured, finished and tested with the utmost care. It is engineered for a precise fit, easy installation, maximum towing strength and an integrated look on the vehicle. It is also tested to SAE J684 protocols for safety. This class 2 trailer hitch is finished with our industry-leading dual-coat process for unparalleled rust, chip and UV resistance. It is descaled for a smooth surface, submersed in liquid A-coat for rust prevention inside and out, covered with a highly durable powder coat, and finally co-cured for a dependable shield against the elements. This class 2 hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin and mounting hardware for a complete installation.

The maximum trailer weight is 3,500 lbs and the maximum tongue weight is 350 lbs. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.

Yes. CURT recommends the use of 18050 stabilizing straps for all non-trailer (wheel-less) loads. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads with these straps will void the product warranty.
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, 6" socket extension, 8mm socket, 10mm socket, 16mm socket, masking tape, aviation shears, safety glasses, tape measure, pry tool, and silicone sealant.
No. The installation instructions state "No Drilling Required." The hitch uses existing vehicle mounting hardware.
You must trim a 2" × 4" section from the underbody panel using aviation shears. Mark the section with masking tape before trimming. The underbody panel is then reinstalled after hitch installation.
Yes. The installation requires temporary removal of the bumper panel and underbody panel. The bumper beam must be removed to mount the hitch, then reinstalled. All removed components are set aside for later reinstallation.
Yes. The exhaust must be lowered by removing two E12 Torx bolts, one on each side. This is the first step of the installation process.
Two people may be required to ease installation. While one person may be able to complete the work, having a second person is recommended to help with component removal and hitch positioning.
All existing hardware fastening the bumper beam to the hitch must be torqued to 45 ft-lbs using a torque wrench and 16mm socket.
The manual does not mention any wiring or electrical connections for this hitch installation.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This maintenance is critical for safe operation.
The installation removes: 2 E12 Torx bolts from the exhaust (1 per side), 10 push pins from the wheel well (6 initially, then 4 more), 6 nuts from the underbody panel (3 per side), 2 bolts from fascia supports (1 per side), and 8 nuts from the bumper beam (4 per side). The nuts from the bumper beam (Step 5) are reused to fasten the hitch in Step 6. Other fasteners are reinstalled in their original locations during reassembly.
After torquing the hitch fasteners to 45 ft-lbs in Step 7, reinstall components by reversing Steps 1-5 in reverse order. This means: reinstall the bumper beam, reinstall the fascia supports, reinstall the underbody panel, reinstall the wheel well components, and finally reinstall the exhaust.
In Step 6, fasteners are loosely installed using the nuts removed from Step 5. They are only fully torqued to 45 ft-lbs in Step 7 using a torque wrench and 16mm socket.
Silicone sealant must be applied around the openings of the frame rail on each side after removing the bumper beam (Step 5) and before reinstalling it. This seals the frame rail to prevent moisture and debris intrusion.
Professional installation takes approximately 60 minutes. Novice (DIY) installation takes approximately 30 minutes. Actual time may vary based on experience and familiarity with the vehicle.
