Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Volkswagen ID.Buzz (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 525 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

Equip your vehicle for towing and hitch-mounted accessories with a dependable CURT 2" trailer hitch. Designed for a vehicle-specific fit, CURT receiver hitches provide a strong and secure connection point for towing trailers, carrying bikes, transporting cargo and using other compatible 2-inch hitch accessories.
Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.

Yes. Installation requires drilling the bumper beam. You will mark and drill one additional mounting hole on the driver side of the bumper beam after removing the existing bumper beam and aligning the hitch.
Required tools: ratchet, drill with 1/2" or step drill bit, 16mm socket, 17mm socket, torque wrench, T-15 Torx bit, T-25 Torx bit, and trim panel pry tool. Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation.
Yes. The bumper fascia must be removed to access the bumper beam mounting points. The bumper beam itself must also be removed to install the hitch. Both are reinstalled after the hitch is secured.
All M10 fasteners must be torqued to 45 ft-lbs.
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure.
The kit includes: one trailer hitch, eight M10–1.5 × 35mm hex bolts, eight 3/8" conical-toothed washers, and eight 7/16" flat washers. Seven bolts that secure the original bumper beam are removed and returned to the vehicle owner.
The installation difficulty is rated as Moderate. Installation time and effort may vary depending on installer expertise, vehicle condition, and availability of proper tools and equipment.
The conical-toothed washer must be oriented with the teeth facing toward the vehicle frame (rear-facing). The flat side faces the hitch side plate.
Gently pry the bumper fascia starting from the sides near the wheel well and working towards the rear of the vehicle to release the clips. Carefully pull the fascia away and disconnect the two electrical connectors on the passenger side. Set the fascia aside for later reinstallation.
Five screws secured with a T25 Torx bit hold the underbody panel to the fascia. Two panel clips are removed using a T15 Torx bit and trim panel pry tool. Note: underbody panel removal is not required for this installation.
Remove three screws securing the wheel well liner to the fascia on both sides using a T25 Torx bit. Pull back the wheel well liner and remove the panel clip securing the top corner of the fascia on both sides using a trim panel pry tool.
Seven bolts secured with a 16mm socket hold the bumper beam to the vehicle. These seven bolts are removed during installation and returned to the vehicle owner.
After removing the bumper beam and placing the hitch over the bumper beam mounting plates, align the existing mounting hole. Mark and drill the missing mounting hole on the driver side of the bumper beam using a 1/2" or step drill bit.
After replacing the bumper beam on the vehicle, use tape to temporarily place eight flat washers (#4) over the bumper beam mounting holes before raising the hitch into position.
Raise the hitch into position and loosely secure it with eight M10 bolts (#2) and conical washers (#3) using a 17mm socket. Do not fully tighten at this stage.
Torque all M10 fasteners to 45 ft-lbs. Then reinstall the fascia following the removal steps in reverse order, placing the hitch receiver through the existing access hole in the bumper fascia.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Periodic inspection ensures all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure. This helps prevent damage to the product and vehicle.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
