Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,000 lbs. GTW and 300 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.

Gross trailer weight (GTW) is 3,000 lbs. Tongue weight (TW) is 300 lbs. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The kit includes: 1 trailer hitch, 1 driver-side mounting bracket, 1 passenger-side mounting bracket, 6 carriage bolts (1/2-13 x 1.25", grade 8), 4 hex bolts (M12 x 1.25 - 60mm, CL8.8), 6 serrated-flange nuts (1/2" - 13), and 4 conical-toothed washers (1/2"). Fishwire tools are also included to assist with mounting.
Required tools: ratchet, 3/4" socket, 10mm socket, 19mm socket, rotary tool with cut-off wheel, and flathead screwdriver. A full tools reference guide is available at curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
Installation difficulty is rated as Moderate. Difficulty levels are based on time and effort involved and may vary depending on installer expertise, vehicle condition, and availability of proper tools and equipment.
Two modifications are required: temporary underbody panel removal and bumper cover trimming. The underbody panel is removed via 8 screws (10mm socket) and reinstalled after hitch mounting. The rear bumper cover is trimmed according to the trim diagram (2.75" and 3.75" cuts shown in Step 3).
1. Remove underbody panel using 10mm socket (8 screws). 2. Raise and loosely secure passenger-side mounting bracket with M12 bolts and conical-toothed washers. 3. Repeat with driver-side bracket. 4. Trim rear bumper cover per trim diagram; remove 4 push fasteners from bumper bottom; disconnect electrical connector from trunk pan. 5. Raise center hitch section into position and secure with 1/2" carriage bolts using fishwire tools if needed. 6. Torque 1/2" hardware to 90 ft-lbs and M12 hardware to 60 ft-lbs. Secure electrical connector to hitch mounting tab; reinstall push fasteners and underbody panel.
Torque 1/2" carriage bolts and serrated-flange nuts to 90 ft-lbs. Torque M12 hex bolts to 60 ft-lbs. Always refer to specified torque values to prevent damage to the product or vehicle.
Six carriage bolts, 1/2-13 x 1.25", grade 8, are used to secure the center hitch section. These are torqued to 90 ft-lbs.
Four hex bolts, M12 x 1.25 - 60mm, CL8.8, are used to secure the mounting brackets. These are torqued to 60 ft-lbs.
Insert the coiled end of the fishwire tool through the hitch mounting hole in the vehicle frame rail and out the access hole. Pass the coiled end through the spacer and thread the bolt into the coil. Kink the wire to keep the spacer separate from the bolt. Pull the fishwire, spacer, and bolt through the frame and out the mounting hole. Use the fishwire to guide the hitch during mounting and prevent loss of the bolt or spacer inside the frame rail.
No. In Step 2, the mounting brackets are raised and loosely secured with M12 bolts and conical-toothed washers. Final torquing to 60 ft-lbs occurs in Step 5, after the center hitch section is secured with carriage bolts.
Spray lubricant or compressed air into the hole to remove debris from weldnuts in the frame. For heavy debris, use a wire brush. Take care not to damage the threads.
The conical-toothed washers are placed under the hex bolts that secure the mounting brackets. The diagram on page 2 shows the washer orientation with the conical (pointed) side facing the bolt head.
The rear bumper cover is trimmed according to the trim diagram in Step 3. The diagram shows cuts of 2.75" and 3.75". A rotary tool with cut-off wheel is used to make these cuts.
In Step 3, the large electrical connector is separated from the rear of the trunk pan. In Step 5, this connector is secured to the mounting tab on the hitch, and the 4 push fasteners are reinstalled.
Eight screws secure the underbody panel. A 10mm socket is used to remove 7 of them; the last fastener can be turned by hand. The panel and hardware are set aside and reinstalled in Step 5.
Four push fasteners are removed from the bottom of the bumper cover in Step 3. These are reinstalled in Step 5 after the hitch is secured.
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure.
Safety glasses should be worn at all times while installing this product. Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.

Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
