The kit includes: 1 left wear plate, 1 right wear plate, 14 pan head Philips machine screws (M4), and 14 lock washers (M4). The original M4 screws and lock washers should be discarded and replaced with the new hardware provided.
The manual states that the head assembly can be easily removed from the main body to aid installation and recommends that the head be separated from the main body before installing the wear plates. To remove it, remove the center lynch pin and large pivot pin, then lift and remove the head assembly and yoke.
1. Remove the original M4 screws and lock washers along with the left and right wear plates. Discard the original hardware and wear plates. 2. With the jaws open, install the replacement left and right wear plates using the new M4 screws and lock washers provided. 3. Torque the screws to 8–10 in-lbs, being careful not to overtighten.
