A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Jeep Wrangler JK (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Yes, the CURT 2" Front Receiver Hitch, Select Jeep Wrangler JK Trailer Hitch (Part #BKDK31432) is designed to fit the 2007-2017 Jeep Wrangler.
The CURT 2" Front Receiver Hitch, Select Jeep Wrangler JK Trailer Hitch (Part #BKDK31432) Drilling is not required for installation. Typical installation time is 30-60 minutes. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, CURT part 31432 is designed for the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. However, it will not work with optional bumpers, so verify your vehicle has the factory bumper before purchasing.
No. The manual explicitly states this hitch will not work with optional bumpers. It is designed for the factory bumper only.
The hitch has a gross load capacity of 3,500 lbs. trailer weight and 350 lbs. tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch, and 9,000 lbs. maximum line pull when used as a straight-line pull hitch. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The hitch weight is 90 lbs.
The kit includes: four 1/2-13 UNC hex head cap screws 1-1/4" long (grade 8, yellow zinc); two 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolts 1-1/2" long (grade 8, yellow zinc); four 1/2-13 UNC serrated flange nuts (grade 8, yellow zinc); two 1/2-13 UNC handle nuts (grade 8, chrome); two 1/2" S-con washers (yellow zinc); two 0.250 x 1.25 x 2.00" square hole spacers; two 0.250 x 1.50 x 2.00" round hole spacers; and two 1/2" fishwire.
The manual does not specify the tools required for installation. Contact CURT Manufacturing technical support at 1-877-287-8634 for a complete tool list.
Yes. Step 1 requires removing the undercarriage deflector from the vehicle by removing six plastic screw fasteners. To remove them, squeeze the pointed tip and unscrew using a Phillips screwdriver.
Removal is optional but recommended for additional access. Step 2 notes that if equipped with a brake booster pump, you should remove the forward-most bolt and rotate it out of the way. After installation, reinstall any removed plastic fasteners and the brake booster pump.
The manual does not mention disconnecting the battery. However, if your vehicle has a brake booster pump that needs to be moved during installation, consult your vehicle's service manual or contact CURT technical support at 1-877-287-8634 for safety guidance.
No. The manual explicitly states "NO DRILLING REQUIRED." However, some models may require hole enlargement on the driver side frame rail.
Deflector trimming is optional. Step 7 states that if you are reinstalling the undercarriage deflector on the vehicle, you may need to notch it as shown in the diagram to allow clearance for corresponding hitch components.
Some models may require hole enlargement on the driver side frame rail. Step 4 notes that hole enlargement may be required. If you encounter resistance when fishwiring the carriage bolts and spacers through the bottom hole of the frame rails, hole enlargement may be necessary. Contact CURT technical support at 1-877-287-8634 if you need guidance on enlargement.
All 1/2" hardware must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. This is done in Step 6 after all fasteners have been hand-tightened in their initial positions.
1. Remove the undercarriage deflector by removing six plastic screw fasteners. 2. Raise the hitch into position and align holes in the frame with holes in the hitch; optionally remove plastic bumper cover fasteners and move the brake booster pump if equipped. 3. Fasten the hitch to the bottom of the bumper using supplied hardware and hand-tighten. 4. Fishwire 1/2" carriage bolts and spacers through the bottom hole of frame rails and secure; enlarge holes if needed. 5. Install remaining hardware as shown in the diagram. 6. Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft and reinstall removed components. 7. Optionally notch and reinstall the undercarriage deflector.
Fishwire is a technique of threading fasteners through holes. In Step 4, you thread the 1/2" carriage bolts and spacers through the bottom hole of the frame rails using the supplied 1/2" fishwire, then secure them. This allows you to attach the hitch to the frame rails without drilling.
Yes. Step 3 requires hand-tightening all fasteners when initially fastening the hitch to the bumper. Step 6 then specifies torquing all 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft as the final step.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify a maintenance interval, so contact CURT technical support at 1-877-287-8634 for recommended inspection frequency.
Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. While the CURT 31432 has a gross load capacity of 3,500 lbs. trailer weight and 350 lbs. tongue weight for weight-carrying use, or 9,000 lbs. maximum line pull for straight-line pull use, your vehicle's manufacturer may have a lower limit. Always follow the more restrictive specification.
