A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Jeep Wrangler JK (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

CURT offers a variety of high-quality trailer hitches and accessories for select vehicle models. Find the perfect fit for your towing needs at TowUniverse.

The maximum line pull capacity is 9,000 lbs when used as a straight line pull. This rating applies only when the winch cable angle does not exceed 15 degrees up or down from horizontal and 45 degrees left or right from straight ahead. Exceeding these angle limits or the line pull rating may overload the winch, winch mount, and front mounted receiver.
The hitch weight is 40 lbs.
The following tools are required: ratchet, torque wrench, 15mm socket, 3/4" socket, 6" socket extension, and safety glasses.
The kit includes: 6 carriage bolts (1/2-13 UNC, 1-1/2" length, Grade 8, part 10-10287); 6 serrated flange nuts (1/2-13 UNC, Grade 8, part 20-00062); 6 square hole spacers (0.250 x 1.00 x 2.50", part CM-SP10); and 1/2" fishwire (part 1_2 FISHWIRE).
Yes. You must remove the factory skid plate using a 15mm socket to remove 7 hex bolts. Return the skid plate and hardware to the vehicle owner. No drilling is required for this installation.
Fishwire the 3 CM-SP10 spacers and 3 carriage bolts (1/2") through the access hole and out the mounting holes on each side of the vehicle frame rail assembly. This technique allows you to position the spacers and bolts without drilling. Refer to the Fishwire Technique Diagram on the manual for visual guidance.
Three fasteners are used on each side: one carriage bolt, one spacer, and one flange nut. The installation uses 3 bolts and 3 spacers per side (6 total of each) with 6 flange nuts total (3 per side).
Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs. This applies to the carriage bolts and flange nuts on both sides of the hitch.
Do not exceed your vehicle's front axle Gross Weight Rating (GAWR). Consult your vehicle's owner manual or the specification plate located on the driver's door frame. Measure gross front axle weight by placing the front wheels of your loaded vehicle on a scale. Exceeding GAWR may overload the front axle and/or suspension, which could result in accident, property damage, and personal injury.
No. Never use a ball mount as an anchor point for a tow strap or winch cable. Severe personal injury or death could result. Use OEM tow hooks, recovery eyes, or a clevis mount for attachment of a tow strap or winch cable instead.
For maximum line pull rating, the winch cable must not exceed 15 degrees angle up or down from horizontal, and must not exceed 45 degrees angle left or right from straight ahead. Exceeding these angles may overload the winch, winch mount, and front mounted receiver.
Attach the return cable to the tow hook or recovery eye when using a snatch block. Do not attach the return cable to the winch mount, as this may overload the winch mount and/or front mounted receiver.
Reposition the front mounted license plate if it becomes obstructed by the hitch installation.
After installation, ensure that: vehicle lights are not obstructed; free air flow into the grille opening is maintained; and the driver's view is not obstructed. The hitch extends the front of the vehicle, which may reduce approach angle, so use caution when parking and maneuvering.
Rear wheel traction may be reduced when the hitch is installed. This could affect handling. Reduce speed and drive with caution.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain the integrity and safety of the installation.
