If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Nissan Versa sedan without LED taillights (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). You must remove: all trunk floor coverings, two plastic push fasteners and two 10mm screws from the rear scuff panel, the rear scuff panel itself, plastic push fasteners holding the felt trunk liner, and the two 10mm nuts holding the taillight housing in place. This exposes the taillight wiring harness connectors.
Remove the grommet that the taillight wiring harness passes through. Make a cut in the grommet from the middle outwards large enough to pass the T-Connector housings through. Route the T-Connector end with the yellow wire from inside the vehicle through the grommet's hole, pass the housings through the grommet, and reinstall the grommet back into the vehicle.
Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the separated housings. Make sure the housings are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Take care not to damage the locking tabs when separating or reconnecting the connectors.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle and adhere the black converter box using the double-sided tape provided. The manual does not specify a particular location, only that it should be mounted on a flat surface.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the converter box, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle's frame, or drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. Clean the ground area from any rust, dirt or paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and screw provided.

Route the 4-flat out from under the felt trunk liner to the center of the vehicle when in use. Roll up and store in an out of the way location when not in use.
