Towing your vehicle behind your RV is a great way to experience more of the adventure on your cross-country excursions. Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Ford Fusion. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

The CURT 58942 Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness for Dinghy Towing, Fits Select Ford Fusion (Part #BKDK58942) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the Curt 58942 is designed to fit Ford Fusion vehicles. The harness connects to the vehicle's existing taillight connectors and mounts to the frame, allowing you to tow an RV by connecting the 4-Flat extension harness to the motorhome.
The kit includes: (1) Wiring Harness with 4-Flat Connector, (1) 48" 4-Flat Extension, (20) 15" Cable Ties, (1) 4-Flat Bracket, and (3) #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screws.
Yes. As part of the installation preparation, you must open the trunk, remove the trunk floor cover, remove the plastic fastener and screw cap on the rear threshold, remove the threshold, and then remove the spare tire and set it aside.
You will need a flat screwdriver, pliers, a drill with a 3/32" drill bit, and a fish tape. A drill is required to create mounting holes in the vehicle frame and for the ground screw location. The fish tape is used to route the 4-Flat harness through the wheel well.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill one 3/32" hole near the RV harness ends to mount the ground screw (Step 4), and two 3/32" holes on the vehicle frame to mount the 4-Flat bracket (Step 11). The manual cautions to take care not to drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface.
Yes. In Step 7, you must remove the rubber grommet from the hole in the trunk floor, make a slit in it to fit around the 4-Flat wire, and push the grommet back into the hole around the wire. The manual notes it may be necessary to apply silicone around the grommet to seal it.
The 4-Flat Harness uses the following color code: White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal. These functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp.
Pull back the felt trunk liner on the driver's side to locate the vehicle's taillight connectors. Separate the Brown connector behind the taillight carefully without breaking the locking tab. Position the RV harness connector ends containing the Yellow wire between the separated connectors. Press the connectors firmly into the vehicle connectors until they lock into place, then pull on the connectors to ensure the locks are engaged.
Route the portion of the RV Harness with connectors containing Green wires down behind the driver's side wall panel, along the rear of the vehicle, and up behind the passenger side panel (Step 6). Route the 4-Flat portion down behind the driver's side wall panel and out to the center of the trunk (Step 7). From the trunk, route it through the wheel well using a fish tape (Step 8), then along the brake lines toward the front of the vehicle (Step 9), and finally along the factory wire harness in the engine compartment to the front (Step 10). Secure the harness with cable ties throughout.
Locate a clean and accessible mounting location on the vehicle near the RV harness ends within reach of the white wire and ring terminal. Remove any debris or undercoating to expose a clean metal surface, drill a 3/32" hole, and attach the ring terminal on the White wire using one of the #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screws provided.
Locate a suitable position on the vehicle frame to mount the 4-Flat bracket. Using the bracket as a template, mark the two holes, drill two 3/32" holes, and attach the bracket using the two remaining #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screws. The manual cautions to take care not to drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface.
When routing the 4-Flat harness toward the front of the vehicle, avoid areas that contain moving parts or could cut, pinch, or burn the wires. Also avoid routing the harness near fuel lines as it may cause fuel to ignite. Failure to follow these warnings may cause property damage, personal injury, or loss of life. It may be necessary to remove clips in the wheel well area to route the harness properly.
With the 4-Flat extension plugged into the RV harness on one end and the motorhome on the other, test that the functions work on the Ford Fusion. These functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp. After testing, secure any loose wires using the cable ties provided, and re-install the threshold, trunk liner, and any other items removed during installation.
When not in use, store the 4-Flat extension in the vehicle's glove box.
The RV Harness includes a connection point labeled "FOR TRAILER TOW USE ONLY: TAILLIGHT REQUIRED." If you decide to leave the RV harness on the vehicle at all times and want to tow a trailer, you can simply plug in the 4-Flat Harness part number 58920 and you're ready to tow.
Yes, the Curt 58942 RV TOW Harness is designed for Ford Fusion vehicles.
You need a flat screwdriver, pliers, a drill with 3/32" bit, and a fish tape for routing the harness through the wheel well.
Yes, you must drill three 3/32" holes: one for the ground screw and two for the 4-Flat bracket mounting. Take care not to drill through the vehicle body or exposed surfaces.
White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
