Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Ford Fusion. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

The CURT 58945 Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness for Dinghy Towing, Fits Select Ford Fusion (Part #BKDK58945) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The kit includes: (1) Wiring Harness with 4-Flat Connector, (1) 48" 4-Flat Extension, (20) 15" Cable Ties, (1) 4-Flat Bracket, and (3) #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screws.
Yes, the 58945 is designed to fit Ford Fusion vehicles. The manual states it fits Ford Fusion and provides installation instructions specific to this model.
The 58945 harness is designed for RV towing. To tow a trailer, you can leave the RV harness installed and plug in the 4-Flat Harness part number 58920 to enable trailer towing. The manual notes that the RV harness includes a connection point labeled "FOR TRAILER TOW USE ONLY: TAILLIGHT REQUIRED."
You will need: a 10mm socket (to remove taillight bolts), a 7mm socket (to remove a bolt in the rear wheel well), a drill with a 3/32" bit (to drill mounting holes), and a fish tape or similar tool to route the harness through the vehicle frame. Basic hand tools for handling cable ties and connectors are also required.
Open the trunk and remove the trunk floor covering. Remove two cargo tie downs on both sides of the vehicle and gently pull away felt liners, taking care not to damage alignment tabs or the panel. Remove two push clips on the threshold and gently pull up the threshold to set it aside. Remove the taillights using a 10mm socket.
Position the RV harness connector ends containing Yellow wires between the separated vehicle harness connectors. Press the connectors firmly into the vehicle connectors until they lock into place. Pull on the connectors to ensure the locks are engaged. Repeat this process for the Green wire connectors on the passenger side.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill two 3/32" holes to mount the 4-Flat bracket at the front of the vehicle, and one 3/32" hole to attach the ground screw near the RV harness ends. The manual cautions to take care not to drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface.
Drill 3/32" holes. Two holes are needed for the 4-Flat bracket mounting at the front of the vehicle, and one hole is needed for the ground screw attachment near the RV harness ends.
The 4-Flat Harness Color Code is: White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
Locate a clean and accessible mounting location on the vehicle near the RV harness ends within reach of the white wire and ring terminal. Remove any debris or undercoating to expose clean metal. Drill a 3/32" hole and attach the ring terminal on the White wire using one of the #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screws provided.
Route the 4-Flat portion down the taillight opening, then through the rear wheel well (removing the bolt in the driver's rear wheel well with a 7mm socket). Continue routing underneath the side trim panels located under the driver and passenger side doors toward the front of the vehicle. At the front driver's side wheel well, remove 4 push clips and route the harness through the wheel well area. Finally, route the 4-Flat across the frame rail at the front of the vehicle to the 4-Flat bracket mounting location.
Avoid routing the harness near moving parts, areas where wires could be cut, pinched or burned, and fuel lines. The manual warns: "Failure to follow these warnings may cause property damage, personal injury or loss of life." Take care not to drill through the vehicle body or exposed surfaces.
With the 4-Flat extension plugged into the RV harness on one end and the motorhome on the other, test that the functions work on the Ford Fusion. These functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp.
Secure any loose wires at the rear of the vehicle using the cable ties provided. Re-install the taillights and any other items removed during installation. When not in use, store the 4-Flat extension in the vehicle's glove box.
