Towing your vehicle behind your RV is a great way to experience more of the adventure on your cross-country excursions. Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Ford Fiesta. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

The CURT 58946 Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness for Dinghy Towing, Fits Select Ford Fiesta (Part #BKDK58946) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the Curt 58946 is designed specifically for the Ford Fiesta Hatchback. The kit connects to the vehicle's factory taillight connectors and mounts components in the engine compartment and rear hatch area.
The kit includes: (1) wiring harness with 4-flat connector, (1) 48" 4-flat extension, (20) 15" cable ties, (2) adhesive cable tie pads, (1) 4-flat bracket, and (3) #8 self-tapping ground screws.
You will need a Phillips screwdriver, a drill with a 3/32" bit, and a fish tape. The fish tape is used to route the 4-flat harness from the wheel well up through the engine compartment.
Open the rear hatch and remove the floor cover. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw on the side wall panels. Remove the 2 push clips on either side of the threshold and pull the threshold up. Pull back the felt liner to reveal the taillight connectors, which will be similar to those found on an RV harness.
Starting on the driver's side, carefully separate the vehicle's connectors without damaging the locking tabs. Route the RV harness ends containing the yellow wire up behind the felt liner. Plug the RV harness into the separated vehicle connectors until they lock into place. Pull on the connectors to ensure the locks are fully engaged. Repeat this process on the passenger side for the connectors containing green wires.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill two 3/32" holes: one near the RV harness ends for the ground wire ring terminal (Step 5), and two more 3/32" holes in the engine compartment to mount the 4-flat bracket (Step 13). Before drilling, remove any debris or undercoating to expose clean metal surface. Do not drill into exposed surfaces or through the vehicle body.
Remove the rubber grommet in the trunk area near the felt liner in the spare tire area. Cut the cable ties on the 4-flat portion of the harness. Route the 4-flat harness from behind the felt liner through the grommet opening, make a slit in the grommet, fit it around the 4-flat wire, and apply silicone around the area to seal. Underneath the vehicle, route the 4-flat wire along the brake lines and secure it to brake line brackets with cable ties. Continue routing to the front of the vehicle either behind the side trim plate or along the brake lines, securing to brackets as you go. Use a fish tape to pull the 4-flat harness up through the front wheel well into the engine compartment.
When routing the 4-flat harness towards the front of the vehicle, avoid areas containing moving parts or that could cut, pinch, or burn the wires. Do not route the harness near fuel lines, as this may cause fuel to ignite. Failure to follow these warnings may cause property damage, personal injury, or loss of life.
Mount the 4-flat bracket at a location near the front of the vehicle in the engine compartment. Use the bracket as a template to mark two holes, drill two 3/32" holes, and attach the bracket using the two remaining #8 self-tapping screws. Take care not to drill through the body or any exposed surface.
Both the ground wire ring terminal hole and the 4-flat bracket mounting holes are 3/32" diameter.
White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
With the 4-flat extension plugged into the RV harness on one end and the motorhome on the other, test that the functions work on the Ford Fiesta Hatchback. These functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp. Ensure all lights and signals operate correctly before towing.
Store the 4-flat extension in the vehicle's glove box when not in use.
At the rear of the vehicle, secure any loose wires to the vehicle's crossmember using the cable ties provided. Re-install all items removed during installation, including the threshold, side wall panels, and floor cover.
Yes, the Curt 58946 is designed specifically for the Ford Fiesta Hatchback.
The harness controls brake lights, tail lights, and left and right turn signals. These functions work only on the brake/tail combination lamp.
Avoid routing the harness near moving parts, fuel lines, or areas where wires could be cut, pinched, or burned. Failure to follow these warnings may cause property damage, personal injury, or loss of life.
