Towing your vehicle behind your RV is a great way to experience more of the adventure on your cross-country excursions. Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Acura MDX. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

Yes, CURT part 58955 is designed for Lincoln MKX SUVs. The manual confirms fitment for MKX models in the S-class (SUVs, Mini & Full-Sized Vans) category. For confirmation of your specific model year, contact the vehicle manufacturer or CURT directly.
The CURT 58955 is an RV harness wiring kit that allows you to connect an RV or trailer to your Lincoln MKX. It integrates with the vehicle's existing taillight wiring and provides a 4-flat connector at the front of the vehicle for towing. The harness handles signal circuits (6.0 amps per side) and tail/running circuits (6.0 amps total).
Required tools include: ratchet, ratchet extension, 5.5mm socket, 1/4" socket, 8mm socket, 10mm socket, T-20 Torx bit, 3/32" drill bit, panel trim removal tool, small flat screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, cutting tool, and fish wire. A soft pry tool is also needed for removing trim panels and the taillight housing.
Yes, drilling is required in two locations. First, you must drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the ground wire screw near the collision connector on the driver side (Step 13). Second, you must drill two 3/32" holes behind the driver-side headlight to mount the 4-flat bracket (Step 17). Before drilling, check for hidden items behind or under surfaces to avoid damage and personal injury.
Yes, the rear bumper fascia must be removed. The installation requires removal of the taillight housings, rear wheel well trim panels, and the bumper fascia to access the collision connector and route the RV harness. The bumper is removed in Step 9 after releasing locking tabs on the fascia and wheel well trim.
The 4-flat harness uses four wire colors: White (Ground), Green (Right Turn/Brake), Brown (Taillights), and Yellow (Left Turn/Brake). These functions only work on the brake/taillight combination lamp of the towed vehicle.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating, and potential fire. Do not exceed the product rating or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
The CURT 58955 is rated for 6.0 amps per side for signal circuits and 6.0 amps total for tail/running circuits. Do not exceed these ratings or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower, as this can cause loss of warranty, overheating, and potential fire.
Route the trailer-side 4-flat connector on the underside of the vehicle along the brake lines from the rear to the front (Step 15). Follow the brake lines up into the engine compartment to reach the area behind the driver-side headlight (Step 16). Some trim cover panels may need to be removed. Secure the harness with cable ties along the way. Avoid areas with moving parts or sharp edges that could cut, pinch, or burn the wires.
The 4-flat bracket is mounted behind the driver-side headlight in the engine compartment. Use the bracket as a template to mark two drill locations, drill two 3/32" holes, and attach the bracket using the two provided screws (Step 17).
On the driver side, insert the RV harness end with the yellow wire between the separated taillight connectors and ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place (Step 11). Repeat on the passenger side using the RV harness with the green wire (Step 12). Route the harness with the yellow wire to the driver side and the green wire to the passenger side along the bumper frame.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the collision connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. The area must be free of rust, dirt, and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw (Step 13). Before drilling, check for hidden items to avoid damage and personal injury.
The collision connector is located on the driver side in the bumper frame and is exposed once the bumper fascia is removed (Step 10). It must be unplugged before installing the RV harness. The manual does not specify whether this connector is permanently disabled after unplugging.
With the 4-flat extension plugged into the RV harness on one end and the RV on the other, perform a function test (Step 18). These functions will only work on the brake/taillight combination lamp. Test all four functions: left turn/brake (yellow), right turn/brake (green), taillights (brown), and ground (white). If all functions work on the towed vehicle, reinstall all items removed during installation.
Yes, you can leave the RV harness on the vehicle at all times. The harness includes a connection point labeled 'For trailer tow use only: 4-flat harness required.' If you decide to leave the RV harness on the vehicle and want to tow a trailer, simply plug in the 4-flat harness (Step 19 note).
When not in use, store the 4-flat extension in the vehicle (Step 19). Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
The installation requires removal of: taillight fasteners (Step 2), T-20 Torx bumper retaining fasteners (Step 6), and 5.5mm fasteners from the trim panel underneath the vehicle (Step 7). The manual does not specify whether these fasteners are reused or replaced. The installation provides new screws for the ground wire and 4-flat bracket mounting.
