Towing your vehicle behind your RV is a great way to experience more of the adventure on your cross-country excursions. Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Chevrolet Malibu. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

The CURT 58934 Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness for Dinghy Towing, Fits Select Chevrolet Malibu (Part #BKDK58934) fits the following vehicles: 2013-2015 Chevrolet Malibu; 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Limited. Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
The CURT 58934 Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness for Dinghy Towing, Fits Select Chevrolet Malibu (Part #BKDK58934) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the Curt 58934 is designed to fit the Chevrolet Malibu. The harness connects to the vehicle's taillight connectors and routes through the trunk and rear wheel well to the engine compartment, where the 4-flat connector bracket is mounted on the driver's side.
The kit includes: (1) wiring harness with 4-flat connector, (1) 48" 4-flat extension, (20) 15" cable ties, (1) 4-flat bracket, (2) adhesive cable tie pads, and (3) #8 self-tapping ground screws.
You will need a drill with a 3/32" drill bit, a screwdriver, and a fish tape (to route the 4-flat harness through the wheel well and engine compartment). The manual references using a fish tape in steps 10 and 13 to pull the harness through tight spaces.
The manual instructs you to pull back the felt liner to access the taillight connectors (steps 3–4 and 7), but does not require full taillight removal until the end of installation. Step 16 states to re-install taillights after securing loose wires, implying they may need to be removed for access. Consult your vehicle's service manual or a qualified installer if you are unsure how to safely access the connectors.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill two 3/32" holes: one near the RV harness ends for the ground screw (step 5), and two more for the 4-flat bracket in the engine compartment (step 14). The manual cautions not to drill into exposed surfaces or through the vehicle body.
Drill 3/32" holes. Two holes are drilled for the 4-flat bracket in the engine compartment (step 14), and one hole is drilled near the RV harness ends for the ground screw (step 5).
Route the RV harness with connectors containing yellow wires (driver's side) and green wires (passenger's side) behind the felt liner to the taillight location. Separate the vehicle connector and position the RV connectors between the separated vehicle harness connectors. Press the connectors firmly into the vehicle connectors until they lock into place, then pull on them to ensure the locks are engaged (steps 4 and 7).
The 4-flat harness color code is: White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
Mount the 4-flat bracket on the driver's side of the engine compartment. Use the bracket as a template to mark two holes, drill two 3/32" holes, and attach the bracket using the two remaining #8 self-tapping screws (step 14). Do not drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface.
Route the 4-flat harness with green wire connectors through the grommet in the rear center wall of the vehicle (step 8), then underneath the vehicle along the bumper frame to the passenger side (step 9). From the passenger side rear wheel well, use a fish tape to pull the 4-flat up and over the wheel well (step 10), then route it underneath the trim panel on the passenger side and secure with cable ties (step 11). Place a cable tie pad on the vehicle frame and secure the 4-flat with another cable tie (step 12). Finally, from inside the engine compartment, route a fish tape down through the wheel well, secure the 4-flat to it, and pull it into the engine compartment (step 13).
Unseat the grommet, make a slit in it, and fit it around the 4-flat wire. If needed, apply silicone around the area to seal it (step 8).
Avoid routing the 4-flat harness near moving parts, areas where wires could be cut, pinched or burned, and fuel lines. Routing the harness near fuel lines may cause fuel to ignite. Failure to follow these warnings may cause property damage, personal injury or loss of life (step 10 caution).
With the 4-flat extension plugged into the RV harness on one end and the motorhome on the other, test that the functions work on the Chevrolet Malibu. These functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp (step 15).
The manual states: "When not in use store the 4-flat extension in the vehicle's glove box." This indicates the extension is intended to be disconnected and stored rather than left permanently connected.
Locate a clean and accessible mounting location on the vehicle near the RV harness ends within reach of the ring terminals. Remove any debris or undercoating to expose clean metal, then drill a 3/32" hole. Attach the ring terminals on the white wires using the screw provided (steps 5–6).
Read the instructions thoroughly before beginning. Then open the trunk and remove the threshold by pulling up on it. Remove the floor cover and set both items aside. On both sides, carefully remove the 3 clips on the felt liner (steps 1–2).
Underneath the vehicle, route the 4-flat along the bumper frame to the passenger side. Clean a spot on the bumper and apply a cable tie pad, then secure the 4-flat with a cable tie (step 9, Figure 6).
On the left side of the passenger's side rear wheel well, remove the screw holding the wheel well cover (step 10, Figure 7). This allows access to route the fish tape up and over the wheel well to pull the 4-flat harness.
The fish tape is used to route the 4-flat harness through tight spaces. In step 10, it is routed up and over the wheel well and secured to the 4-flat to pull it over the wheel well. In step 13, a fish tape is routed down through the wheel well from inside the engine compartment, secured to the 4-flat, and used to pull the harness into the engine compartment.
At the rear of the vehicle, secure any loose wires to the vehicle's crossmember using the cable ties provided. Then re-install the taillights to the vehicle (step 16).
Yes, the Curt 58934 RV TOW Harness is designed specifically for the Chevrolet Malibu.
You need a drill with a 3/32" bit, a screwdriver, and a fish tape to route the harness through the wheel well and engine compartment.
White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
Yes, store the 4-flat extension in the vehicle's glove box when not in use.
