It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,000 lbs. GTW and 300 lbs. TW. Yes. Installation of the CURT 13603 requires underbody panel trimming. You will remove the rearmost underbody panel and trim it using a rotary tool with a cut-off wheel according to the rectangle guide provided in the instructions (3-3/8" dimension shown).
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, 10mm socket, 14mm socket, 19mm socket, 19mm torque adaptor, rotary tool, and cut-off wheel. A tools reference guide is available at curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
The kit includes: 1 trailer hitch, 4 hex bolts M12 1.25 60 CL 8.8, 4 conical-toothed washers 1/2", 1 hex bolt M12 1.25 30 CL 10.9, and 1 tube spacer.
Remove the rearmost underbody panel by removing six push fasteners and three nuts using a 10mm socket, plus one nut using a 14mm socket. After removal, trim the panel using the rectangle guide shown in the instructions.
1. Remove and trim the rearmost underbody panel. 2. Relocate the electrical connector from the bumper cover to the side bracket. 3. Install the tube spacer on the passenger-side frame rail using the short M12 hex bolt to the middle hole with the larger hole facing outwards. 4. Raise the hitch, hook the driver side over the frame rail lip, rotate into position, and loosely secure with remaining M12 bolts and conical-toothed washers. 5. Torque all M12 bolts to 60.2 ft-lbs and reinstall the underbody panel.
Install the tube spacer on the passenger-side frame rail with the larger hole facing outwards. Bolt it using the short M12 hex bolt (#4) through the middle hole of the spacer into the middle hole of the frame rail. Temporarily install a bolt into one of the remaining holes to prevent the spacer from rotating while tightening.
Raise the hitch and hook the driver side over the lip of the frame rail. Rotate the hitch into position and loosely secure it with the remaining M12 bolts and conical-toothed washers before final torquing.
All M12 bolts on the CURT 13603 must be torqued to 60.2 ft-lbs. If a torque adaptor is used, adjust the torque reading accordingly.
To remove debris from weldnuts in the frame, spray lubricant or compressed air into the hole. For heavy debris, use a wire brush. Take care not to damage the threads.
The conical-toothed washers should be oriented with the toothed side facing the hitch side plate, as shown in the assembly diagram on page 2.
