Towing your vehicle behind your RV is a great way to experience more of the adventure on your cross-country excursions. Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Buick Envision. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

The CURT Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness, Select Buick Envision Trailer Connector Kit (Part #BKDK58968) fits 2016-2020 Buick Envision models. The 2020 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
The CURT Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness, Select Buick Envision Trailer Connector Kit (Part #BKDK58968) fits the following vehicles: 2016-2020 Buick Envision. Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
The CURT Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness, Select Buick Envision Trailer Connector Kit (Part #BKDK58968) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Part 58968 is a wiring location guide for SUVs and Vans using wiring locations S1 and S2 (behind driver and passenger side taillights). Check your vehicle's taillight configuration against the wiring location diagram on page 1 of the manual. If your vehicle uses S1 and S2 locations, it is compatible.
Required tools: ratchet, 8mm socket, socket extension, panel trim removal tool, flathead screwdriver, drill, T-15 Torx bit, and 3/32" drill bit. You will also need a fish wire (or substitute such as a cut-up wire hanger, stiff wire, rope or string), zip ties, and abrasive pad or paper to clean the grounding point.
Yes. Step 1 requires you to locate the vehicle battery in your owner's manual, disconnect the negative battery terminal, and fasten this wire down and away from the battery. Reconnect it only after all installation steps are complete and items removed during installation have been reinstalled.
Drilling may be required. Step 8 instructs you to locate an existing screw or bolt in the vehicle frame as a grounding point, or drill a 3/32" pilot hole if no existing fastener is available. Before drilling, check for hidden items behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Do not exceed the product rating or tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Additionally, ensure wires do not contact moving or hot objects, and check for hidden items before drilling to avoid damage and personal injury.
Once the custom wiring harness is installed, verify function by attaching the 4-flat connector to any vehicle with functioning trailer lights. The taillights on the tow vehicle should function along with the taillights on the towing vehicle. You may also use a test light to verify proper function.
Periodic inspection of all wires and connections should be performed to ensure there is no visible damage or loose connections. After installation, install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
Part 58968 is a CURT wiring location guide for SUVs and Vans. It provides a custom RV harness with a 4-flat connector to enable trailer light functionality. The harness connects to factory taillight wiring at locations S1 and S2 (behind driver and passenger side taillights) and routes the 4-flat connector to the front of the vehicle for trailer connection.
Part 58968 uses wiring locations S1 and S2. S1 is behind the driver side taillight housing and S2 is behind the passenger side taillight housing. These are the primary connection points where the custom RV harness attaches to the factory wiring.
Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning. Locate your vehicle battery using your owner's manual and disconnect the negative battery terminal, fastening it down and away from the battery. Gather all required tools: ratchet, 8mm socket, socket extension, panel trim removal tool, flathead screwdriver, drill, T-15 Torx bit, 3/32" drill bit, fish wire (or substitute), zip ties, and abrasive pad or paper. Proper tools will improve installation quality and reduce time required.
Open the vehicle's trunk. Use a small screwdriver to pry the fastener cover off each taillight. Use a T-15 Torx socket to remove the fastener. Repeat on the other side. Remove each taillight by pulling straight back. Loosen the alignment tabs by wiggling them back and forth. Release the wiring harness by sliding the red lock on the housing towards the rear. Separate the connectors carefully to avoid damaging the locking tabs. Set the taillights aside.
Fish wire is a tool to push or pull electrical wire through a blind hole. It can be a cut-up wire hanger, stiff wire, rope or string. Make sure it is long enough to stick out on the other side of the hole. Insert the fish wire through the blind hole and locate it on the other side. Use tape to secure the harness to the fish wire and pull back up. If the fish wire gets hung up, you may need to push back down, wiggle it around, or twist the wire to loosen it.
Starting on the driver side, run a fish wire down between the body and the bumper cover. From under the vehicle, locate the end of the custom RV harness with the yellow wire. Attach the yellow side to the fish wire and pull the harness up to the factory harness. Insert the custom RV harness into the factory wiring. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with the locking tabs in place. Reinstall the taillight back into its housing. Repeat this process on the passenger side with the green wire.
After connecting at the taillights, route the harness end with the green wire along the back side of the bumper and zip tie in place. Route the 4-flat wire above the rear drive line, suspension mounts, and body, zip tying to secure. Route the 4-flat wire into the plastic underbody pan just to the rear of the fuel tank, along the fuel tank between the tank and the driver-side sub frame to the rear of the front tire. From the driver-side engine compartment, use fish wire between the inner fender and exterior fender to route the 4-flat up to the engine compartment. Route the 4-flat wire along the driver-side inner fender, zip tying as needed to the front of the vehicle. Mount the 4-flat next to the vehicle ground lug on the driver side.
Locate a grounding point near the box such as an existing screw or bolt in the frame of the vehicle. If no existing fastener is available, drill a 3/32" pilot hole. The area should be free from rust, dirt, and paint—use an abrasive pad or paper to remove rust and paint. Secure the white ground wire with the ring terminal on the existing fastener or with the provided ground screw. Before drilling, check for hidden items behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Secure any excess wire so that it is not drooping or dangling, but not so tight that it causes unnecessary strain to the wire, which could lead to breakage over time. After removing slack from the 4-flat wire, tighten any zip ties and add as needed. Use a zip tie to fasten any excess wire to a solid spot along the driver-side inner fender. Reinstall all items removed during installation. If the negative battery terminal was disconnected at the beginning, reconnect it. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
Ensure wires do not come into contact with moving or hot objects. When securing wires with zip ties, do not over-tighten, as this can cause wire breakage over time. Secure excess wire without causing unnecessary strain. Before drilling any pilot holes, check for hidden items behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Periodic inspection of all wires and connections should be performed to ensure there is no visible damage or loose connections. The manual does not specify a particular interval, but regular checks are recommended to maintain proper function and prevent corrosion.
Part 58968 includes a custom RV harness with yellow and green wire ends for taillight connection, a white ground wire with ring terminal, a 4-flat connector, and a 4-flat dust cover. The manual does not list other included hardware beyond these components.
When removing the taillight, loosen the alignment tabs by wiggling them back and forth. This allows the taillight to be pulled straight back out of its housing. The alignment tabs are part of the taillight assembly and help position it in the housing.
Release the wiring harness by sliding the red lock on the housing towards the rear of the housing. Then separate the connectors, taking care not to damage the locking tabs.
If the fish wire gets hung up on something, you may need to push back down, wiggle it around, or twist the wire to loosen it from what it is hung up on. The fish wire may need to be repositioned or the harness may need to be guided through the routing path more carefully.
Attach the 4-flat connector to any vehicle with functioning trailer lights. The taillights on the tow vehicle should function along with the taillights on the towing vehicle. Alternatively, use a test light to verify proper function. If the taillights do not function, check that all connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place, and verify that the negative battery terminal has been reconnected.
