Yes. Both driver and passenger side taillights must be removed. Remove the two fastener covers on each side using a flathead screwdriver, then pull the taillight straight rearward. Locate and separate the taillight wiring connectors, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. The taillights are temporarily reconnected for testing (Step 8) but should be removed once testing is complete.
Use a fishwire (or substitute such as stiff wire, coat hanger, rope or string) to drop down through the taillight opening so it comes out the underside of the vehicle. Tape the RV harness end to the fishwire and pull it back up through the opening. On the driver side, use the harness end with the yellow wire; on the passenger side, use the end with the green wire. Insert the harness end between the separated taillight connectors, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Fishwire is a technique to push or pull an electrical wire through a blind hole. For this installation, fishwire can be made from a cut-up wire hanger, stiff wire, rope or string—anything long enough to stick out on the other side. Insert it through the blind hole, locate it on the other side, tape the harness to it, and pull back up. If the wire gets hung up, push back down, wiggle it around, or twist it to loosen it.
