Towing your vehicle behind your RV is a great way to experience more of the adventure on your cross-country excursions. Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Jeep Cherokee. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

Yes, the CURT Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness, Select Jeep Cherokee Trailer Connector Kit (Part #BKDK58909) is designed to fit the 2014-2018 Jeep Cherokee.
The CURT Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness, Select Jeep Cherokee Trailer Connector Kit (Part #BKDK58909) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The CURT 58909 is an RV harness (trailer wiring harness) designed to provide electrical connections for towing. It includes connectors for signal circuits (7.5 amps per side) and tail/running circuits (7.5 amps total), allowing your vehicle to control trailer lights. The harness connects to your vehicle's existing taillight connectors and routes a 4-flat connector to the front of the vehicle for trailer connection.
The CURT 58909 is designed for SUVs and Vans. The manual provides a wiring location guide for S-series vehicles (S1–S10 locations). For specific vehicle model and year compatibility, check the product listing or contact CURT directly, as the manual does not list individual vehicle models.
You will need: a ratchet, 8mm socket, T30 Torx bit (or screwdriver), 10mm socket, fishwire, and a utility knife. These tools are required to remove taillights, disconnect fasteners, route the harness through the vehicle, and trim plastic if necessary.
Step 1 is to open the rear hatch and use a T30 Torx screwdriver to remove the screws securing the taillights on the driver and passenger side. Gently remove the taillights and inspect the connectors for dirt and debris, cleaning if necessary.
Starting on the driver side, position the RV harness connector ends containing yellow wires between the separated vehicle harness connectors (Step 3). Press the connectors firmly into the vehicle connectors until they lock into place. Pull on the connectors to ensure the locks are engaged. Repeat this process on the passenger side.
Trimming may be necessary. On both sides of the taillight openings, it may be necessary to trim the black plastic piece attached to the bumper fascia using a utility knife to cut away the corner. This should only be done if you cannot carefully pull the bumper fascia away enough to allow the RV harness connectors to pass through (Step 2).
Route the portion of the RV harness with connectors containing green wires down the taillight opening (Step 5). On the passenger side, route a fishwire through the bumper frame to the driver side. Secure the RV harness ends to the fishwire and pull through the bumper frame. Route the connector ends up through the taillight opening and repeat the connection process from Step 3.
Cut the cable ties on the 4-flat portion (Step 6). Route the 4-flat down the taillight opening and through the driver-side rear wheel well by removing two bolts and two push clips using a 10mm socket. Route up and over the wheel well to the right side, secure to a fishwire, and pull through. Continue routing underneath the plastic guard to the front (Step 8), then through the driver-side front wheel well (Step 9) by removing three push clips and a bolt using an 8mm socket.
Route the 4-flat to the area near the window wash fill lid and locate a suitable position to mount the 4-flat bracket (Step 10). Using the bracket as a template, mark the two holes and drill two 3/32" pilot holes. Attach the bracket using the two remaining screws. Take care not to drill through the body or any exposed surface.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame, or drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw (Step 4). The area should be free of rust, dirt, and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Signal circuits are rated at 7.5 amps per side. Tail/running circuits are rated at 7.5 amps total. Do not exceed the product rating or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
Check for hidden items behind or under any surface before drilling to avoid damage and personal injury (Step 4 warning). Avoid areas that contain moving parts or could cut, pinch, or burn the wires when routing the 4-flat harness to the front of the vehicle (Step 8 warning). Take care not to drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface (Step 10 warning). Do not exceed the product rating or tow vehicle lamp load rating.
Secure any excess wire so that it is not drooping or dangling, but not so tight that it causes unnecessary strain to the wire, which could lead to breakage over time (Step 11). After removing slack from the 4-flat wire, tighten any zip ties and add as needed. Use a zip tie to fasten any excess wire to a solid spot along the driver-side inner fender.
After installation, test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly equipped tow vehicle. All steps must be followed to ensure the product will function properly.
Periodic inspection of all wires and connections should be performed to ensure there is no visible damage or loose connections. The manual does not specify an inspection interval; consult your vehicle owner's manual or contact CURT for recommended maintenance schedules.
Reinstall all items removed during installation. If the negative battery terminal was disconnected at the beginning, reconnect it. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion (Step 11).
The CURT 58909 is designed for SUVs and Vans. Check your vehicle model and year against the product listing or contact CURT for specific fitment confirmation.
