Towing your vehicle behind your RV is a great way to experience more of the adventure on your cross-country excursions. Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Jeep Wrangler TJ. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

The CURT Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness, Select Jeep Wrangler TJ Trailer Connector Kit (Part #BKDK58902) fits the following vehicles: 1998-2006 Jeep Wrangler. Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
The CURT Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness, Select Jeep Wrangler TJ Trailer Connector Kit (Part #BKDK58902) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The CURT 58902 is an RV harness (taillight wiring harness) that integrates your vehicle's factory taillight wiring with an external 4-flat connector for towing applications. It allows you to connect a trailer or RV to your vehicle's lighting system. The harness includes signal circuits rated at 7.5 amps per side and tail/running circuits rated at 7.5 amps total.
The CURT 58902 is designed for SUVs and Vans. The manual specifies wiring locations S5 (behind driver side rear bumper) and S7 (behind passenger side rear bumper). For confirmation that this harness fits your specific vehicle make, model and year, consult your vehicle owner's manual or contact the vehicle manufacturer.
You will need: a ratchet, a 10mm socket, a Phillips screwdriver, a flathead screwdriver, and a utility knife. A drill with a 3/32" bit is also required to create pilot holes for mounting the 4-flat bracket.
The manual shows an 'Included Parts' section on page 1 but does not list the specific parts by name or quantity. Based on the installation steps, the harness includes: an RV harness with yellow and green wire ends, a 4-flat connector, a white ground wire with ring terminal, a mounting bracket, screws, cable ties, a cable tie pad, and a 4-flat dust cover. For a complete parts list, contact CURT or consult the product packaging.
The installation is rated as 'Moderate' difficulty. The process involves removing taillights, routing wiring through the vehicle, drilling two pilot holes, and making electrical connections. Proper tools and careful attention to all steps are required for proper function.
Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws securing the plastic lens cover on the driver-side taillight. Then use a 10mm socket to remove the three bolts securing the taillight to the body. Gently pull the taillight away from the vehicle. Locate the vehicle factory wiring harness connectors, separate them from the taillight housing by carefully releasing the locking tabs, and remove the foam tape. Inspect the connectors for dirt and debris and clean if necessary.
Remove the plastic shield underneath the taillight cavity by releasing the plastic clip. Insert the RV harness end with the yellow wire (driver side) or green wire (passenger side) between the separated factory connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Re-apply the foam tape that was removed during disassembly.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. The area must be free of rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and the provided screw.
Cut the cable ties on the 4-flat portion and route it down through the opening behind the taillight. Route the 4-flat over the top of the fuel tank and secure with the provided cable tie pad and cable ties. Continue routing towards the front following the existing factory wiring harness, securing with cable ties. Near the engine compartment on the driver side, route the 4-flat up the brake lines and along the factory wiring harness to a location near the hood release, securing with cable ties.
Locate a suitable mounting location for the 4-flat bracket on the frame behind the driver-side taillight. Using the bracket as a template, mark two holes and drill two 3/32" pilot holes. Attach the bracket using the two remaining screws. Take care not to drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface.
Drill 3/32" pilot holes. Two holes are required for mounting the 4-flat bracket on the frame behind the driver-side taillight. One additional 3/32" hole may be needed for the ground wire screw if a suitable existing screw with nut is not available.
Signal circuits are rated at 7.5 amps per side. Tail and running circuits are rated at 7.5 amps total. Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
Avoid areas that contain moving parts or could cut, pinch or burn the wires. Failure to follow this warning may cause property damage, personal injury or loss of life. Additionally, before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury. Do not drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface.
Secure any excess wire so that it is not drooping or dangling, but not so tight that it causes unnecessary strain to the wire, which could lead to breakage over time. After removing slack from the 4-flat wire, tighten any zip ties and add as needed. Use a zip tie to fasten any excess wire to a solid spot along the driver-side inner fender.
Test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly equipped tow vehicle. All steps must be followed to ensure the product will function properly.
Reinstall all items removed during installation. If the negative battery terminal was disconnected at the beginning, reconnect it. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
Periodic inspection of all wires and connections should be performed to ensure there is no visible damage or loose connections. The manual does not specify the inspection interval. Register your purchase at warranty.curtgroup.com/surveys to receive product updates and warranty information.
