Towing your vehicle behind your RV is a great way to experience more of the adventure on your cross-country excursions. Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Jeep Liberty. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

The CURT Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness, Select Jeep Liberty Trailer Connector Kit (Part #BKDK58917) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the Curt 58917 is designed to fit the Jeep Liberty. The manual does not specify model year restrictions, so contact Curt Manufacturing or your retailer to confirm compatibility with your specific model year.
The kit includes: (1) Wiring Harness with 4-Flat Connector, (1) 48" 4-Flat Extension, (20) 15" Cable Ties, (1) 4-Flat Bracket, (2) Adhesive Cable Tie Pads, and (3) #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screws.
You will need a T-20 Torx screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, a fish tape, and a drill with a 3/32" bit. All fasteners and cable ties are provided in the kit.
Open the rear window and tailgate. Using a T-20 Torx screwdriver, remove the screws that hold both taillight assemblies to the vehicle. Gently pull each taillight away from the vehicle to access the factory wiring harness connectors. Separate the connectors from both sides and set them aside. Inspect the connectors for dirt and debris and clean if necessary.
Starting on the driver's side, position the RV harness with connectors containing Yellow wires between the separated vehicle harness connectors. Press the connectors firmly into the vehicle connectors until they lock into place. Pull on the connectors to ensure the locks are engaged. Repeat this process on the passenger side with the connectors containing Green wires.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill one 3/32" hole near the taillight area for the ground screw, and two 3/32" holes at the front frame rail for the 4-Flat bracket. Take care not to drill through the body or any exposed surface.
Locate a clean and accessible mounting location on the vehicle near the RV harness ends, within reach of the white wire and ring terminal. Remove any debris or undercoating to expose a clean metal surface, drill a 3/32" hole, and attach the ring terminal on the white wire using the #8 self-tapping ground screw provided.
Route the harness with Green wire connectors through the opening behind the taillight (Step 6). On the passenger side, route it near the rear cross bar and along the plastic bumper, securing with cable ties and avoiding contact with the exhaust (Step 7). Route the 4-Flat portion down through the taillight opening, along the factory wire harness to the top of the fuel tank (Step 9), then along the brake lines to the front (Step 10), and finally to the driver's side wheel well (Step 11). Use the fish tape to help route connectors through tight spaces.
The 4-Flat bracket secures the 4-Flat connector at the front of the vehicle. Locate the front frame rail that goes across the front of the vehicle, mark two holes using the bracket as a template, drill two 3/32" holes, and attach the bracket using the two remaining #8 self-tapping ground screws provided.
The 4-Flat Harness Color Code is: White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
With the 4-Flat extension plugged into the RV harness on one end and the motorhome on the other, test that the functions work on the Jeep Liberty. These functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp.
Store the 4-Flat extension in the vehicle's glove box when not in use.
Yes. The RV harness includes a connection point labeled "FOR TRAILER TOW USE ONLY: 4-FLAT HARNESS REQUIRED." If you decide to leave the RV harness on the vehicle at all times and want to tow a trailer, simply plug in the 4-Flat harness.
Yes. Remove the cover on the front side of the driver's side wheel well to help in routing the 4-Flat connector to the front of the vehicle.
The two adhesive cable tie pads are used to secure loose wires underneath the vehicle between the brake lines and wheel well. Place them underneath the vehicle and secure with cable ties to keep the harness organized and protected.
The kit includes 20 cable ties, each 15" long. They are used to secure the harness along the passenger side bumper, at the fuel tank, along the brake lines, and at the rear crossmember to keep the wiring organized and protected from damage.
Yes. After securing any loose wires to the vehicle's crossmember using cable ties, reinstall the taillights to the vehicle.
Take care not to drill through the body or any exposed surface. When drilling the 3/32" hole for the ground screw, locate a clean and accessible mounting location and remove any debris or undercoating to expose a clean metal surface. When drilling holes for the 4-Flat bracket at the front frame rail, use the bracket as a template to mark the correct positions.
Yes. On the passenger side, route the harness to avoid contact with the exhaust to prevent heat damage to the wiring.
