The 57007 is designed to work with Curt Manufacturing 56000 or 56070 5th wheel hitch and gooseneck factory wiring extension kits. You must have one of these kits already installed or be installing it at the same time. Refer to the 56000 or 56070 installation instructions for full compatibility details with your specific vehicle.
You will need: a drill, a 3/8" drill bit, a Phillips screwdriver, and a center punch. These are the only tools specified in the installation instructions.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill four 3/8" diameter holes in the mounting box for the 7-way receptacle. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
You must drill four holes, each 3/8" in diameter. These holes are for the mounting bolts that secure the 7-way receptacle to the box.
1. Reference the installation instructions in the 56000 or 56070 wiring extension kit. 2. After drilling the hole for the 7-way receptacle, mark the pattern for the mounting holes on the box. 3. Drill four 3/8" diameter holes. 4. Insert well nuts into the drilled holes. 5. Mount the 7-way in the box using the provided hardware. 6. Finish the install according to the wiring kit installation instructions.
Well nuts are fasteners that are inserted into the four 3/8" diameter holes you drill. They provide a threaded anchor point for the mounting bolts that secure the 7-way receptacle to the box. The manual specifies that well nuts must be inserted in Step 4 before mounting the 7-way.
