CURT introduces the Double Lock EZr gooseneck hitch. This under-bed gooseneck not only boasts 30,000 lbs. of towing capacity, but it also offers easier installation and operation. With its slotted safety chain holes, patented center locator and vehicle-specific installation brackets, mounting the Double Lock EZr is quick and painless. It also features a double-locking design and a flip-and-store trailer ball to make gooseneck towing look easy. Installation with the Double Lock EZr requires only one person, using retainer clips to keep bolts secure and the center section fully supported while mounting it into place. It also uses our exclusive, patented center locator to eliminate the need for meticulous measuring and ensure error-free drilling. This model also has slotted safety chain holes that allow you to align the safety chain loops with the rails of your truck bed for optimum functionality. The EZr also uses carriage bolts whenever possible for one-wrench tightening and does not require the exhaust to be lowered during installation. Operation of the Double Lock EZr gooseneck hitch is simple and safe. It uses two locking pins and a 3/8" diameter handle to keep the gooseneck ball locked into the center section and your gooseneck trailer more secure. The ball features a flip-over design that allows you to store it inside the receiver hole when not in use, keeping your truck bed completely free of obstructions and preventing the trailer ball from being lost. With a fortified center section, this hitch offers a gross trailer weight capacity up to 30,000 lbs. and a vertical load limit of 7,500 lbs., giving you the power you need to get the job done right.

On two-wheel drive trucks, you must check clearance when the truck is both loaded and unloaded to ensure the inverted ball will not interfere with the top of the differential. Yes, drilling is required. You must drill a 3/16" pilot hole from underneath the truck bed, four 5/8" holes for safety chain loops from underneath the truck bed, and one 4" hole from above the truck bed. A 3/4" step bit is used to slightly enlarge the 5/8" holes from above the truck bed. Cutting fluid is recommended to ease the drilling process.
The four 5/8" safety chain holes must be drilled from underneath the truck bed through the low rib sections of the truck bed, using the gooseneck center section as a guide. The correct placement is shown in Figure 4 of the manual. Refer to Figure 3 to determine the correct safety chain hole locations for your specific truck brand (Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet/GMC, or RAM).
Some models require trimming of the plastic wheel-well cover. Trim as needed to allow reinstallation and access to the handle. The wheel-well cover must be removed during installation and reinstalled after the hitch is mounted.
Some models may require the use of pliers to bend the metal flange below the bed outward, allowing the handle to move without interference. This is noted as optional and model-dependent.
Installation follows eight steps: (1) Drill 3/16" pilot hole from underneath using center locator as guide; (2) Drill four 5/8" safety chain holes from underneath in low rib sections; (3) Drill 4" hole from above and remove center locator; (4) Deburr holes, apply rust inhibitor, install rubber edging (optional), chrome ring, and U-bolts; (5) From underneath, install washers, springs, and nylock nuts on U-bolt legs; (6) Insert cast lock pin and handle through center section; (7) Slide washer and compression spring over handle, insert into lock pin, and secure with hex head flange screw and nylock nut; (8) Reinstall wheel-well covers and spare tire.
Place two U-bolts down through the four holes drilled in Step 2. From underneath the truck, place a 5/8" washer, spring, 3/8" washer, and 5/8" nylock nut on each of the four U-bolt legs. Tighten the nuts until flush with the bottom of the U-bolt. See Figure 1 for correct assembly.
Insert the cast lock pin into the ball cylinder with the handle hole on top. Insert the handle from the outside of the vehicle through the holes in the center section. Slide one 3/8" washer and the compression spring over the handle before inserting it into the lock pin. Secure the handle with a 30mm hex head flange screw and M5 nylock nut. If needed, add or remove a 3/8" washer to ensure proper pull length of the locking pin.
Insert the gooseneck ball into the desired position in the cylinder by aligning the ball's groove with the cylinder pin. If the groove and pin are not aligned, rotate the gooseneck ball until it drops into place.
The CURT 60619 includes a 2 5/16" gooseneck ball.
To unlock: Pull the handle out as far as possible and rotate it clockwise. To lock: Rotate the handle counterclockwise until the locking pin snaps back into position. Never operate the vehicle with the handle in the unlocked position.
When the gooseneck ball is in the inverted position, insert the supplied rubber hole cover to keep out dirt and debris.
Before towing for the first time, you must: (1) Verify adequate turning clearance between truck cab/box corners and trailer; (2) Check truck box clearance—minimum 6" between bottom of trailer overhang and top of box sides; (3) Verify the inverted gooseneck ball will not interfere with the top of the differential when hauling heavy loads (especially important on two-wheel drive models); (4) Verify all hardware is torqued to proper specification; (5) Verify safety chain length—leave only enough slack to allow full turning without interference; (6) Verify trailer attachments to safety chain loops are secure; (7) Ensure all fasteners are tight and structural components are sound; (8) Attach trailer securely to both safety chain loops; (9) Ensure handle is in lock position and locking pin passes completely through ball and both walls of hitch cylinder; (10) Ensure trailer weight does not exceed towing system capacity and load is properly distributed; (11) Check trailer tires and verify lights, electric brakes, and breakaway switches are working.
Before towing every time, you must: (1) Ensure the handle is in the lock position; (2) Confirm the locking pin passes completely through the ball and both walls of the hitch cylinder; (3) Ensure the trailer weight does not exceed any part of the towing system; (4) Verify the load is heavier towards the front of the trailer while not exceeding the hitch's tongue weight; (5) Ensure trailer load is centered left to right and secured to prevent shifting; (6) Never load the heaviest part of the trailer behind the axle(s); (7) Check trailer tires are inflated to proper specification; (8) Verify trailer lights, electric brakes, and breakaway switches are working properly.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The CURT 60619 manual does not specify a maximum capacity; you must consult your truck's manufacturer specifications.
Vehicle performance (braking, handling, acceleration, turning radius) can be drastically affected by the trailer. Allow additional time and space for stopping, changing lanes, passing, and turning.
Keep the gooseneck ball, cylinder, and trailer coupler lubricated regularly using silicone spray or equivalent to prevent wear and rust. Keep the hitch assembly and trailer coupler free of dirt and other foreign debris. Periodically check the gooseneck hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. Do not tow a trailer with worn or damaged parts.
The manual requires that all hardware be torqued to proper specification before towing for the first time, but specific torque values are not provided in the installation instructions.
