The lockable latch mechanism adjusts by tightening or loosening a bolt within the latch to ensure a firm hold on the trailer ball. This CURT Posi-Lock repair latch is designed to fit a 2" trailer ball and can be used on 2", 2-1/2" or 3" channel couplers.

The kit includes six components: handle assembly, release spring, underjaw, square washer, tension spring, and 1/2" locknut. These parts are designed to repair or assemble a straight tongue Posi-Lock coupler for 2" trailer balls.
The Curt 25194 Posi-Lock coupler is designed for 2" trailer balls only.
The coupler has a maximum capacity of 3,500 lbs with a tongue weight rating of 500 lbs. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, even if the coupler rating is higher.
Yes. Step 1 of the installation instructions requires you to place a 2" trailer ball in the coupler before inserting the handle. The ball must be present throughout the assembly process.
1. Place the handle in locked position with a trailer ball in the coupler, then insert the handle through the latch hole. 2. Place the release spring on the handle on the underside of the coupler. 3. Attach the underjaw to the handle and release spring, ensuring the notch in the underjaw engages the coupler body cross shaft. 4. Tighten the locknut against the square washer and tension spring underneath the underjaw until the coupler is snug on the ball but the handle can still be released with moderate pressure.
Tighten the 1/2" locknut against the square washer and tension spring until the coupler is snug on the ball and not loose. The correct adjustment allows the handle to be released with moderate pressure applied to the release latch. Do not over-tighten.
The notch in the underjaw must engage the coupler body cross shaft at all times. Failure to ensure proper engagement of this notch could result in coupler failure, which can cause separation of the tow vehicle and trailer, resulting in death, personal injury and property damage.
Check the tightness of the coupler on the ball after towing 50 miles. Ensure the latch handle is in the locked position during this inspection. This allows you to verify that all components remain properly secured after initial use.
