The CURT SecureLatch flush-mount lunette ring offers enhanced security and maximum versatility. Its integrated locking pin helps prevent coupling and theft when your trailer is left unattended, featuring holes in the bottom to accept a padlock. The pin can also be turned 90 degrees to allow you to hitch up your trailer. This lunette ring also offers increased height adjustment, featuring an offset base. This allows the ring to be flipped for more drop or rise as needed. This CURT SecureLatch lunette ring has a flush-mount base with bolt holes spaced 4-1/2 inches apart. The lunette ring itself has a 2-1/2-inch inside diameter to couple to a pintle hook or ball and pintle combination, and it is rated for up to 60,000 pounds gross trailer weight. This SecureLatch lunette eyelet is made from austempered iron for superior strength and wear resistance, and it features a durable, dark grey teridium powder coat finish for resistance to the elements.

The CURT 48661 is a surface-mount lunette ring designed for trailer towing. It mounts directly to a trailer's mounting plate and accepts a towing coupler. The product has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 60,000 lbs and includes a locking pin mechanism to secure the trailer during towing.
The CURT 48661 is designed for trailers with a mounting plate. The manual does not specify particular trailer brands, models, or frame styles. Verify that your trailer has a suitable mounting plate and that the 48661's capacity (60,000 lbs GTW) does not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's towing capacity or your trailer's rated capacity.
You need four 3/4" grade-8 bolts, washers and nuts. These are sold separately as part# 48553 hardware kit. The manual does not indicate whether this kit is included with the 48661 or must be purchased separately.
You will need a torque wrench, ratchet, 1-1/8" socket, and 1-1/8" wrench. These tools are necessary to secure the four 3/4" bolts to the specified torque of 320 ft-lbs.

1. Ensure the locking pin is in the unlocked position before hooking up the trailer. 2. Remove the padlock. 3. Lift and turn the locking pin 90 degrees to the side as shown in the manual. 4. Reinsert the padlock to keep the locking pin secure during travel.
Drop the locking pin into the locked position as shown in the manual, then install a padlock (not included) into the locking pin. The locking pin can still be used when the lunette ring is in the drop position.
Maintain adequate vertical down (tongue) load of generally 10% of the trailer weight to have proper control of the trailer. However, do not exceed the specified rated capacities of the vehicle or towing components.
The CURT 48661 is designed for on-road towing within the stated capacities. For off-road applications, you must reduce the product's capacities by 25%. The 60,000 lbs GTW capacity would be reduced to 45,000 lbs for off-road use.
Yes. Safety chains must be kept in place and in working order at all times. Never operate the product without safety chains attached to the vehicle. This is a critical safety requirement.
Inspect the unit for proper operation and worn, damaged or missing parts before each use. Replace parts as required or when wear exceeds 1/8" from the original surface. Check the hardware torque specification after the first 200 miles of towing and every 400 miles after that.
