Yes, but with important restrictions. If you have a 1981 or later Chevrolet or GMC with a step bumper, you must remove the step bumper support brackets from the frame during installation. These brackets must be retained and can be replaced when the hitch is removed. Critically, the step bumper must not be used for towing when the support brackets are removed. For Ford Pickup models with 16" spare tires and deep drop step bumpers, you may need to adjust the spare tire cradle after installation to retain under-vehicle tire stowage.
You will need wrenches in the following sizes: 3/4", 13/16", and 7/8". You will also need a 1/2" drill bit to drill the six mounting holes in the frame. A torque wrench capable of measuring up to 95 lb-ft is required for final tightening.

Yes, you must remove the spare tire from the vehicle before beginning installation. Note that to retain under-box tire stowage after the hitch is installed, the spare tire carrier will need to be relocated and/or modified. On some Ford Pickup models equipped with a 16" spare tire, you may need to adjust the spare tire cradle to retain under-vehicle tire stowage.
Measure your vehicle's frame width. For 34" frames, position the side bracket with mounting flanges pointing inboard. For 38" frames, position the bracket with mounting flanges pointing outboard.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill six 1/2" diameter holes in the vehicle frame using the slotted holes in the bracket as a guide. In some cases, it may be possible to use existing holes in the frame instead of drilling new ones. Do not use a torch to cut holes.
1. Remove the spare tire. 2. Measure frame width and position the first side bracket with flanges pointing inboard (34" frame) or outboard (38" frame). 3. Lift the bracket into position with the rear-most mounting tab at the end of the vehicle frame and clamp it. 4. Drill six 1/2" holes using the slotted holes as a guide. 5. Install side bracket fasteners with blocks placed inside the frame, but do not tighten yet. 6. Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 on the opposite side. 7. Install the crosstube assembly into the side brackets with bolts, flat washers, and flanged locknuts, then torque to 95 lb-ft. 8. Finally, tighten all side bracket-to-frame fasteners to 75 lb-ft.
