All M12-1.25 CL 10.9 fasteners must be tightened with a torque wrench to 76 lb-ft (103 Nm). Proper torque is essential to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.

Step 3 instructs to loosely install the M12 bolt and conical washer at the foremost slot on the driver side, then loosely install the rest of the fasteners to the exhaust hanger bracket on both sides. Start from the driver side. Raise and slide the hitch into position starting from the driver side, then loosely install the M12 bolt and conical washer at the foremost slot on the driver side before installing fasteners on the passenger side.
