Raise the hitch into position, lifting the bumper mounting bracket over the fascia where needed. Secure with M12 bolts and conical washers into existing weld nuts, being careful not to push bolts into the frame. 4. Feed conical washer over pull wire to hold the bolt in place, remove pull wires, and attach hex nut. Hand tighten all bolts. 5. For vehicles without existing weld nuts in bumper: pull carriage bolts and small blocks through the end of the bumper and feed through the bumper mounting bracket using pull wire, then attach conical washer and nut. For vehicles with existing weld nuts: install M12 bolts and conical washers through the bumper mounting bracket into the existing weld nuts. 6. Tighten all 1/2-13 GR5 fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·M) and all M12 CL10.9 fasteners to 92 Lb.-Ft. (125 N·M) using a torque wrench. 7. Replace the fascia door on 2005–2015 Equinox. Pull wires are used to feed carriage bolts and blocks through the frame rail slots and bumper. Feed the carriage bolt and large block through slots on the bottom of frame rails using the pull wire (Step 2). Later, feed the conical washer over the pull wire to hold the bolt in place, then remove the pull wires and attach the hex nut (Step 4). For vehicles without existing weld nuts, pull carriage bolts and small blocks through the end of the bumper and feed through the bumper mounting bracket using the pull wire (Step 5). The pull wire procedure allows fasteners to be positioned without drilling.
The manual provides two installation paths: one for vehicles with existing weld nuts in the bumper (Step 5, Figure 2) and one for vehicles without (Step 5, Figure 1). Fascia trimming on 2016 and newer Chevrolet Equinox is optional. If trimming is performed, obtain the vehicle owner's permission before trimming. Figure 4 shows the optional trimming dimensions: 3" on both sides of the center of the fascia door, 6" height, and 3/4" width. For 2005–2015 Equinox, the fascia door is simply replaced without trimming. For all other vehicle models, return the fascia door to the owner without trimming.
For 2016 and newer Chevrolet Equinox, optional fascia trimming dimensions are: 3" [76.2 mm] on both sides of the center of the fascia door, 6" [152.4 mm] height, and 3/4" [19 mm] width. Obtain owner permission prior to trimming.

Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity.
