Do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these limits.
Yes. The spare tire cradle is removed during installation and then reinstalled using the original fasteners. The manual notes that removing the spare tire can make installation easier, but the cradle is reinstalled afterward.
The manual requires disconnecting electrical plugs during bumper removal but does not explicitly state whether the battery must be disconnected. Consult the vehicle service manual or a qualified technician for battery disconnection requirements.
The fastener kit 75948F includes: (4) M14 X 2.00 X 45mm CL10.9 bolts, (4) 9/16" lockwashers, (4) 9/16" flat washers, and (4) 1/2" flat washers. These are installed symmetrically on both sides of the frame rails.
Eight bolts hold the vehicle impact and bumper structure. These must be removed in step 1 and the impact structure returned to the vehicle owner after installation.
Two bolts secure the spare tire cradle. These must be removed in step 1 and kept to reinstall in step 4 using the original fasteners.
Flat washers (item 4) are taped to both frame rails before raising the hitch into position. This positions the washers so they are properly aligned when the hitch fasteners are installed.
Follow these steps in order: (1) Remove impact and bumper structure and spare tire cradle bolts, disconnect electrical plugs; (2) Tape flat washers to frame rails on both sides; (3) Raise hitch into position and install provided fasteners; (4) Reinstall spare tire cradle with original fasteners; (5) Reinstall bumper with original side fasteners; (6) Tighten all fasteners to torque specification; (7) Raise spare tire back into position if required; (8) Return impact structure to vehicle owner.
Yes. In step 5, reinstall the bumper using the original side fasteners. The original fasteners from the spare tire cradle (step 1) are also reused in step 4.
All M14 CL10.9 bolts must be tightened to 100 Lb.-Ft. (136 N*M). The manual does not specify torque values for the original bumper side fasteners or spare tire cradle fasteners; reinstall these with their original tightness.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.

Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
