Remove five Torx screws from the mud flap in this order: four in the wheel well (T25), and one on the bottom of the mud flap (T15). Note that a nut is attached to the bottom screw. Repeat on both sides. This is Step 2 of the installation process.
Carefully pull the wheel well trim away from the vehicle. The manual notes that the trim only needs to be removed halfway. Before fully removing it, remove the Torx screws from under the trim: one on the side of the wheel well and one underneath. Repeat on both sides.
For VW Touareg: (1) Remove the circular pop-out from the driver side inside the trunk and the rectangular pop-out from the passenger side. (6) Remove the push pin by pushing down on its center, then prying out the head.
For Porsche Cayenne: (1) Remove the black panel cover as shown in the photo. (2) Remove the screws (3 per side) and carefully slide the light rearward. (3) Disconnect the electrical plug. (4) Remove the tailgate bumper pads from both sides.
For Audi Q7: (1) Remove four torx head screws on each side of the wheel well and 5 screws on the bottom. (2) Remove four 10 mm nuts located inside the spare tire well using a 10 mm deep socket and extension—be careful not to drop nuts into the vehicle body. (3) Remove the panel in the center of the bumper by unsnapping the middle part in the wheel opening. (4) Pull the cover back and disconnect 2 electrical plugs.
Remove the bumper fascia by carefully pulling it away from the vehicle. Start at the wheel wells, pulling straight out away from the vehicle. You must disconnect the electrical connection before completely removing the bumper fascia. Two people are needed to help avoid damage to the bumper fascia.
Eight M12 bolts secure the hitch to the bumper. Remove these using an M18 socket. The bumper must be supported as the bolts are removed. These same bolts are reused when installing the hitch.
