LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards equip your pickup truck for whatever job lies ahead. They offer easier truck bed access, fleet-level safety, a highly rust-free construction and a custom fit for your truck and lifestyle. Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are the ideal solution for better truck bed access. Whether you need to reach a truck tool box, ladder rack or some cargo in the truck bed, the wheel-to-wheel steps are extra-long, providing a convenient step up for reaching into the truck bed. Grip Step running boards are also built for hard work, featuring expanded metal treads that offer fleet-approved safety. The open treads ensure maximum traction for your boots -- whether rain or shine -- and they also help keep your truck's interior clean by allowing dirt, snow and debris to pass through the boards. For superior resistance to the elements, Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are made from aluminum alloy. They're strong, lightweight and highly corrosion-resistant. To maximize this corrosion resistance, the running boards and brackets are both shielded in a durable black powder coat finish. The running boards also feature hardened plastic end caps that eliminate sharp corners and add a professional touch. All LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are designed for vehicle-specific applications. This ensures a custom fit and the easiest possible installation. The running boards mount with vehicle-specific brackets and use pre-existing mounting points to avoid difficult modifications. This particular set of wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work trucks, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

Yes. The 401747 is designed for 2015 and newer GM 2500/3500HD pickups in regular cab, double cab, and crew cab configurations with gas or diesel engines. It is a body mount application with no drilling required.
No. The 401747 is designed for 2015 and newer GM 2500/3500HD pickups only.
Yes. There are differences between double cab and crew cab applications, particularly in the rear outboard mounting bracket configuration. The manual specifies that center mounting brackets (items #4, #5) are used as rear brackets on regular cab models only. Refer to Figures 2 and 3 in the manual to ensure you use the correct holes for your cab style.
No. The 401747 is a no-drill application. It uses existing factory body mount bolt holes.
The kit includes mounting brackets, load reaction studs, fasteners, and spring hanger brackets. Specific items include: 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws, 3/8" flat washers, 3/8" serrated flange nuts, rubber cushion washers, 3/8"-16 x 2" bolts, 3/8"-16 nylon lock nuts, 1/2" flat washers, and 90-degree brackets. See the Service Parts List on page 4 for the complete list of 20 items and their part numbers.
Yes. You must remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts and replace them with the mounting brackets provided in the kit. The manual notes that due to excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area on 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra, use caution when removing these bolts.
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified installer for guidance on this.
1. Pre-assemble the front bracket on the left side. 2. Assemble the load reaction studs and hardware. 3. Attach the load reaction stud assemblies to the mounting brackets. 4. Remove factory body mount bolts and install the front, center, and rear mounting brackets (finger tight). 5. Attach the rear outboard bracket to the rear inboard bracket. 6. Attach the spring hanger brackets. 7. Install the step boards per their own instructions. 8. Position and tighten the load reaction bolt assembly. 9. Repeat steps 1–8 for the right side.
Leave fasteners finger tight during the initial installation steps. Specifically, the front, center, and rear mounting brackets should be left finger tight when first installed (steps 5.1–5.3). The spring hanger brackets should be left loose until the step board is in place (step 6.2). Final tightening occurs after the step boards are installed and the load reaction assembly is positioned (step 8).
Torque the front bracket fasteners (3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws with flat washers and flange nuts) to 19 lb. ft. (step 2). Torque the rear outboard bracket fasteners (3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws with flat washers and flange nuts) to 19 lb. ft. (step 5.4). Torque the load reaction flange nuts on either side of the bracket to 19 lb. ft. (step 8). Torque the body mount fasteners to manufacturer's specifications (step 7).
On the short threaded end of the stud (item #12), install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) backwards to the bottom of the thread. Then install a 3/8" flat washer (item #10) and rubber cushion washer (item #9) tight against the serrated flange nut. The end of the stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". On the long threaded end, install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) backwards near the bottom of the threads.
Insert the stud from the inboard (frame) side through the lowest hole in the bent flange of the bracket that will allow the rubber washer to seat firmly against the side wall of the frame. Install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) on the outboard end of the stud, finger tight only, at this stage. Final tightening occurs after the step boards are installed.
Loosen the spring hanger bolt or nut just enough to slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #18) behind the flange of the bolt or nut. Position the inboard bracket with the channel open to the outboard side. Install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #19) so its inboard portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket, using a 3/8"-16 x 2" bolt, 3/8" flat washer, 1/2" flat washer, and 3/8"-16 nylon lock nut (items #10, 16, 17, 20). Leave loose until the step board is in place.
The manual does not specify whether step boards are included. It states that step boards should be installed per their own instructions (step 7). Contact the manufacturer or your retailer to confirm what is included in your purchase.
The rear outboard mounting bracket (item #6) must be mounted to the back side of the rear inboard mounting bracket (item #8), towards the rear of the vehicle. There is a difference between double cab and crew cab applications. Refer to Figures 2 and 3 in the manual to ensure you use the correct holes for your specific cab style.
Finger tight means tightened by hand only, without using tools. This is used during initial assembly to hold components in place before final torque specifications are applied. The manual specifies finger tight for the front, center, and rear mounting brackets (step 5), the outboard stud nut (step 4), and the spring hanger brackets (step 6.2), with final torquing occurring after step boards are installed.
The manual specifies that mounting brackets must not touch the inside wall of the body mount housing. After installing the step boards, verify that there is clearance between the brackets and the housing before torquing the body mount fasteners to manufacturer's specifications.
CURT Group recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E: Clunking Noise from Rear of Vehicle (Re-torque Leaf Spring Bolts) for 2007–2017 Chevrolet/GMC trucks. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in damage to the vehicle.
The manual notes that due to excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area on 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra, use caution when removing the body mount bolts. Take your time and apply steady pressure to avoid stripping the threads or damaging the bolt.
