All LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are designed for vehicle-specific applications. This ensures a custom fit and the easiest possible installation. The running boards mount with vehicle-specific brackets and use pre-existing mounting points to avoid difficult modifications. 1. Pre-assemble the front bracket on the left side. 2. Assemble the load reaction studs and hardware. 3. Attach the load reaction stud assemblies to the mounting brackets. 4. Remove factory body mount bolts and install front, center, and rear mounting brackets (finger tight). 5. Attach the rear outboard bracket to the rear inboard bracket. 6. Install spring hanger brackets. 7. Install step boards per their instructions. 8. Tighten the load reaction bolt assemblies. 9. Repeat steps 1–8 for the right side.
On the left side, assemble Items #1, 3, and 14 using three 3/8"-16 × 1.0" screws, 3/8" flat washers, and 3/8" flange nuts (Items #10, 11, 13). Torque to 19 lb. ft. Repeat for the right side using the right-side front bracket.
On the short threaded end of the stud (Item #12), install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #11) backwards to the bottom of the thread. Then install a 3/8" flat washer (Item #10) and rubber cushion washer (Item #9) tight against the serrated flange nut. The end of the stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". On the long threaded end, install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #11) backwards near the bottom of the threads.
Insert the stud from the inboard (frame) side through the lowest hole in the bent flange of the bracket that will allow the rubber washer to seat firmly against the side wall of the frame. Install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #11) on the outboard end of the stud, finger tight only. Do not fully tighten until Step 8.
Install the front mounting bracket (Items #1, 3) to the front body mount location where the factory front body mount bolt was removed. Leave these fasteners finger tight until all brackets are in place and the step boards are installed.
Install the center mounting bracket (Item #4) to the center body mount location where the factory center body mount bolt was removed. Leave these fasteners finger tight. Note: On Regular Cab models only, the center mounting bracket is used as the rear bracket.
Install the rear mounting bracket (Item #8) and washer (Item #15) to the rear body mount location where the factory rear body mount bolt was removed. Leave these fasteners finger tight. Then attach the rear outboard bracket (Item #6) to the rear inboard bracket (Item #8) using three 3/8"-16 × 1.0" screws, 3/8" flat washers, and 3/8" flange nuts (Items #13, 10, 11). The rear outboard bracket must be mounted to the back side (toward the rear of the vehicle) of the rear inboard bracket. Torque these bolts to 19 lb. ft.
Loosen the factory spring hanger bolt or nut just enough to slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (Item #18) behind the flange of the bolt or nut. Position the inboard bracket with the channel open to the outboard side. Install the outboard spring hanger bracket (Item #19) so its inboard portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket, using a 3/8"-16 × 2" bolt, 3/8" flat washer, 1/2" flat washer, and 3/8"-16 nylon lock nut (Items #10, 16, 17, 20). Leave loose until the step board is in place.
Yes. Install the step boards as described by the instructions included with your step boards. Ensure that the mounting brackets do not touch the inside wall of the body mount housing, and torque the body mount fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications.
