The running boards also feature hardened plastic end caps that eliminate sharp corners and add a professional touch. All LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are designed for vehicle-specific applications. This ensures a custom fit and the easiest possible installation. The running boards mount with vehicle-specific brackets and use pre-existing mounting points to avoid difficult modifications. If your vehicle has threaded inserts, you will use a black M8 × 30 mm screw (item #3) instead of the 5/16"-18 × 1.0" screw (item #5) at the upper mounting bracket holes. Check your rocker panel before starting installation.
1. Attach the top of the mounting brackets (items #1 and #2) to the vehicle. 2. Insert 5/16" U-nuts (item #7) into the upper rocker panel holes (unless your vehicle has threaded inserts). 3. Attach the top of the brackets using 5/16"-18 × 1.0" screws and flat washers (items #5 and #4), hand-tightened only. If your vehicle has threaded inserts, use M8 × 30 mm screws (item #3) instead. 4. Install the M8-1.25 screw (item #3) and washer (item #4) at the pinch weld, place the pinch weld support bracket (item #8) above the pinch weld, and install the M8 flange nut (item #6). Tighten all fasteners to 19 lb-ft.
1. Loosen the spring hanger bolt just enough to slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #14) up behind the bolt flange. Position it with the channel open to the outboard side. 2. Install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #13) so its inboard vertical portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket. 3. Use a 3/8" zinc-plated bolt (item #11), 3/8" washer (item #12), 1/2" washer (item #9), and 3/8" nylock nut (item #10) to connect them. Do not tighten these bolts until the bracket is attached to the step assembly. 4. After the step assembly is attached, tighten the spring hanger bolt per the vehicle manufacturer's specifications.
All fasteners on the mounting brackets (items #1 and #2) must be tightened to 19 lb-ft. This includes the upper bracket fasteners and the pinch weld support bracket fasteners. The spring hanger bolt must be tightened per the vehicle manufacturer's specifications, which are not provided in this manual.
Yes. When attaching the top of the brackets with 5/16"-18 × 1.0" screws and flat washers (or M8 × 30 mm screws if your vehicle has threaded inserts), hand-tighten only. After all fasteners are installed and the pinch weld support bracket is in place, tighten all fasteners to 19 lb-ft.
