LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards equip your pickup truck for whatever job lies ahead. They offer easier truck bed access, fleet-level safety, a highly rust-free construction and a custom fit for your truck and lifestyle. Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are the ideal solution for better truck bed access. Whether you need to reach a truck tool box, ladder rack or some cargo in the truck bed, the wheel-to-wheel steps are extra-long, providing a convenient step up for reaching into the truck bed. Grip Step running boards are also built for hard work, featuring expanded metal treads that offer fleet-approved safety. The open treads ensure maximum traction for your boots -- wh ether rain or shine -- and they also help keep your truck's interior clean by allowing dirt, snow and debris to pass through the boards. For superior resistance to the elements, Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are made from aluminum alloy. They're strong, lightweight and highly corrosion-resistant. To maximize this corrosion resistance, the running boards and brackets are both shielded in a durable black powder coat finish. The running boards also feature hardened plastic end caps that eliminate sharp corners and add a professional touch. All LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are designed for vehicle-specific applications. This ensures a custom fit and the easiest possible installation. The running boards mount with vehicle-specific brackets and use pre-existing mounting points to avoid difficult modifications. This particular set of wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, 3500 or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD, 3500 or 3500 HD (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work trucks, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

Yes, the Model 401117 is designed for 1999 GM Silverado and Sierra pickups in Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab configurations. The installation procedure varies slightly depending on cab style, particularly for rear mounting bracket attachment.
The manual specifies the 401117 is for 1999 GM Silverado and Sierra models only. The manual does note that 2010+ models have excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area, but does not confirm fitment for those years. Contact the manufacturer or a Curt dealer to confirm compatibility with 2010+ models.
Yes. If you are mounting the steps on a 1500 model pickup, you must attach bracket (Item #14) to brackets (Item #1 & #2) in order to use the load reaction stud. This bracket is included in the parts list.
The package includes: front, center, rear inboard, and rear outboard cab mounting brackets (Items 1–7); load reaction studs and hardware (Items 8–14); spring hanger mounting brackets (Items 22–23); and all fasteners including bolts, nuts, washers, and screws listed in the Service Parts List. A total of 23 items are included.
Yes. The manual explicitly states: 'READ INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY AND CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL REQUIRED PARTS (LISTED ON THE SERVICE PARTS LIST) ARE ON HAND BEFORE STARTING THE INSTALLATION.' You should also review the separate installation instructions included with your step assembly.
On the short threaded end of the load reaction stud (Item #11), install a black 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #10) backwards to the bottom of the thread. Then install a black 3/8" flat washer (Item #9) and rubber cushion washer (Item #8) tight against the serrated flange nut. The end of the stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". On the long threaded end, install a black 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #10) backwards to near the bottom of the threads.
The rear outboard cab mounting bracket (Items #5 & #6) must be mounted to the back side of the rear inboard cab mounting bracket (Item #7), towards the rear of the vehicle. Use the bottom single hole and top double holes in the rear inboard bracket. Put the bolts through the front side of the bracket so the serrated flange nuts are on the back side to allow clearance for the frame of the truck.
The rear outboard cab mounting bracket (Items #5 & #6) must be mounted to the back side of the rear inboard cab mounting bracket (Item #7), towards the rear of the vehicle. Use the bottom single hole and bottom double holes in the rear inboard bracket. Put the bolts through the front side of the bracket so the serrated flange nuts are on the back side to allow clearance for the frame of the truck.
Leave all fasteners finger tight during the initial installation steps. The front mounting bracket (Items #1 & #2), center mounting bracket (Items #3 & #4), and rear inboard mounting bracket (Item #7) should all be left finger tight. Do not tighten the spring hanger mounting bolts until the bracket is attached to the step assembly. Final tightening occurs after the step assembly is attached.
Loosen the spring hanger bolt just enough so the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (Item #23) can be slid up behind the flange of the bolt. Position it behind the flange with the channel open to the outboard side. Install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket (Item #22) so its inboard vertical portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket, using a 3/8" zinc plated bolt (Item #20), 3/8" washer (Item #21), 1/2" washer (Item #18), and 3/8" zinc plated nylock nut (Item #19). Do not tighten these bolts until the bracket is attached to the step assembly.
The rear outboard cab mounting bracket bolts (3/8" black zinc plated bolts, Item #12) must be torqued to 19 lb. ft. This applies to both extended cab (section 4.3.1) and crew cab (section 4.3.2) installations.
The manual states that body mount bolts and spring hanger bolts must be tightened per manufacturer specifications, but does not provide specific torque values. Consult your GM vehicle service manual or the manufacturer's specifications for the correct torque values for these fasteners.
Use caution when removing the body mount bolts on 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra models. These vehicles have excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area. Removing the bolts carelessly can damage the threaded inserts inside the vehicle. Take your time and apply appropriate force to avoid stripping or damaging the inserts.
Curt Group recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E: Clunking Noise from Rear of Vehicle (Re-torque Leaf Spring Bolts) for 2007–2017 Chevrolet GMC Trucks. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in damage to the vehicle.
Yes, the 401117 is designed for 1999 GM Silverado and Sierra in Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab configurations. If you have a 1500 model, you will also need bracket Item #14.
The package includes all mounting brackets, load reaction studs, fasteners, and spring hanger brackets listed in the Service Parts List (23 items total). All hardware needed for installation is included.
Yes. You must remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts one side of the vehicle at a time, then install the mounting brackets and reinstall the bolts. On 2010+ models, use caution due to excessive thread locker in the bolt area.
Torque the 3/8" bolts connecting the rear outboard and inboard cab mounting brackets to 19 lb. ft.
No. Leave all mounting bracket fasteners finger tight until the step assembly is attached. Then tighten body mount bolts and spring hanger bolts per manufacturer specifications.
Regularly inspect and maintain the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E. Maintain factory-recommended torque values to prevent vehicle damage.
