The Grip Step rear step is a must-have vehicle accessory for any delivery van, mail carrier, ambulance or other commercial vans and cargo vans. It provides a 54" x 7" step on the back of the van, offering safe, convenient access to the rear cargo area whenever needed. This is particularly useful when frequent entry and exit are necessary. This van rear step features the same work-ready construction as our Grip Step running boards. Covering the entire top surface of the rear step are expanded metal treads that lock onto your boots with fleet-grade traction. In any season of the year, Grip Steps provides safe footing that won?t wear down or crack like plastic alternatives. The expanded metal treads are also open on the bottom, allowing dirt and debris to pass through the running board and keeping your cargo van interior clean. This Grip Step rear step is constructed from powder-coated aluminum to ensure the highest le vel of corrosion resistance and maintain a professional look on your vehicle. Aluminum is also strong and lightweight. It keeps unnecessary weight off your van, unlike steel, promoting better gas mileage and extending the life of the vehicle. For a custom fit without the hassle, all LUVERNE rear ste ps are made for vehicle-specific installation. Customized brackets integrate with the vehicle's existing design and ensure maximum strength and rigidity. This rear step is designed to fit specific years of the Ford Transit-150, Transit-250 and Transit-350 (see application info to verify fitment). It comes with powder-coated steel mounting brackets and stainless steel hardware for a complete installation from start to finish.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The Curt 415254 is a 54-inch grip step board designed for universal vehicle applications. It includes a black grip step board (551954), two end caps, support braces, spacer plates, and all necessary fasteners for attachment to vehicle-specific mounting brackets.
The Curt 571528 rear steps are designed for 2015 and newer Ford Transit Vans. Installation requires vehicle-specific bracket packages (sold separately) that mount to the rear frame rails.
The 415254 Grip Step is a universal application. The step board itself is universal, but it must be mounted using a bracket package specific to your vehicle. You must follow the instructions included with your vehicle's bracket package to complete installation.
The 415254 includes: one 54-inch black grip step board, two flat spacer plates (galvanized), two support braces (galvanized), four 5/16-18 x 1.0 carriage bolts (stainless steel), two black end caps, four #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screws (stainless steel, black), four 5/16" flat washers (stainless steel), and four 5/16" serrated flange nuts (stainless steel).
The 571528 includes: one right upper bracket, one left upper bracket, one right lower bracket, one left lower bracket, four 1/2-13 x 1.5" hex head screws (zinc plated), four 1/2-13 flange nuts (zinc plated), eight 1/2" flat washers (zinc plated), two support braces, two 5/16-18 x 1" hex head screws (zinc plated), two 5/16-18 flange nuts (zinc plated), and two 5/16" flat washers (zinc plated). The step board is ordered separately.
The manual does not specify required tools for the 415254 installation. You will need tools appropriate for your vehicle's bracket package (which has separate instructions). For attaching the step to brackets, you will need a screwdriver for the tek screws and a wrench or socket for the carriage bolts and nuts.
You will need a 3/8" drill bit to drill through the step board where the support brace attaches (step 6.1). You will also need wrenches or sockets to install the 1/2" and 5/16" bolts, nuts, and washers. A level is required to ensure proper positioning before final tightening.
Yes. On the left side of the vehicle, you must remove two factory bolts on the outside of the rear frame rails (shown in Figure 1). These bolts are reused to install the upper brackets. You will then install the lower brackets using new hardware provided in the kit.
Yes. The manual requires you to read all instructions completely and verify that all required parts listed on the service parts list are on hand before starting installation. This applies to both the 415254 and 571528 models.
Slide the end caps (item #5) over the ends of the step board (item #1). Using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screws (item #6), screw the end caps to the bottom of the step.
1. Set the step on the mounting brackets. 2. Slide the two support braces (item #3) inside the channel of the step. 3. Attach the flat spacer (item #2) to the bottom of the step, above the top of the bracket. 4. Using the supplied 5/16-18 x 1.0 carriage bolts, washers, and nuts (items #4, #7, #8), attach the step assembly, support bracket, and spacer plate to the mounting bracket. 5. Set the step into a level position and tighten all fasteners.
Remove the two factory bolts on the outside of the rear frame rails on the left side of the vehicle (these will be reused). Using the removed factory bolts, install the upper bracket (items #1 and #2). For grip steps, slide the brackets all the way out towards the rear of the vehicle. For mega/omega steps, slide the brackets all the way in towards the front of the vehicle.
Using the 1/2-13 x 1.5" bolts (item #5), 1/2" flange nuts (item #6), and 1/2" flat washers (item #7), install the lower brackets (items #3 and #4). Do not tighten bolts at this time. For grip steps, install the support brace (item #8) on the bottom hole of the lower bracket. For mega/omega steps, the support brace is not used. It is recommended to use the bottom hole locations for grip steps and upper hole locations for mega/omega steps.
Hold the support brace (item #8) up to the step board and use a 3/8" drill bit to drill a hole through the step board where the support brace meets the board. Using the 5/16-18 x 1" bolt (item #9), 5/16" flat washer (item #11), and 5/16" flange nut (item #10), attach the support brace to the step board.
Yes. When installing grip steps, you must drill a 3/8" hole through the step board where the support brace attaches. This is done by holding the support brace up to the step board and drilling where they meet. This drilling is required only for grip steps; mega/omega steps do not use a support brace.
A 3/8" drill bit is required to drill the hole through the step board where the support brace attaches.
You must set the step into a level position before tightening all fasteners. This applies to both the 415254 and 571528 installations. Ensure that everything is level and positioned correctly before final tightening.
No. When installing the lower brackets using the 1/2" bolts, flange nuts, and washers, do not tighten the bolts at this time. Leave them loose until after the step board is attached and everything is level and positioned correctly (step 7).
The 415254 is a universal step board, but it requires a vehicle-specific bracket package (sold separately). Check that a bracket package is available for your vehicle model and year, then follow the bracket package instructions along with the step attachment instructions.
The 571528 is designed for 2015 and newer Ford Transit Vans only. If your vehicle is a 2015 or newer Ford Transit Van, the 571528 will fit. For other vehicles or earlier model years, you will need a different step kit.
No. The 571528 kit includes only the brackets and fasteners. The step board must be ordered separately and attached according to the instructions included with the board set.
Yes. You must drill a 3/8" hole through the step board where the support brace attaches. This is required only for grip steps; mega/omega steps do not require drilling.
Yes. You must remove two factory bolts on the outside of the rear frame rails on the left side. These bolts are reused to install the upper brackets.
Set the step into a level position and verify that everything is positioned correctly before tightening all fasteners. This ensures proper fit and safe operation.
