The LUVERNE O-Mega II 6" rear step offers the ultimate in durability and aggressive style for work vans. It is built from lightweight, T6 aluminum construction, covered in a durable powder coat and finished with paintable TPO end caps. This step is just like our O-Mega II 6" oval side steps, only it is designed to mount on the rear of your commercial van or work van and provide convenient access to the cargo area. It features non-skid aluminum step pads that mount with self-tapping screws to allow for custom positioning. The step pads can be mounted to factory specifications or adjusted to personal preference. This rear step fits select model years of the Ford Transit-150, Transit-250 and Transit-350 (see application info to verify fitment). NOTE: The mounting brackets for this step are included but shipped separately.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The kit includes: one 51.00" aluminum extrusion (silver or black), two step pads, two end caps, eight square head screws, eight serrated flange nuts, and twelve TEK screws. The extrusion forms the main step platform. Step pads are attached to the top of the step plates using the TEK screws. End caps are installed on the sides and tightened to 5 lb ft. Square head screws mount the step to the brackets.
These models are listed as universal application, meaning they are designed to work with a wide range of vehicles. However, you must obtain a vehicle-specific bracket package separately to mount the steps to your vehicle. The bracket package instructions will confirm fitment for your specific vehicle. Without the correct bracket package, the steps cannot be installed.
The O-MEGA II models 583254 and 584254 are universal application steps. For 2015 and newer Ford Transit Vans, Curt Manufacturing offers model 571528 rear steps, which are specifically designed for this vehicle. If you are installing rear steps on a Ford Transit, use model 571528. For other step locations or vehicles, confirm fitment with the vehicle-specific bracket package.
Grip Steps and Mega/Omega Steps use different bracket positioning and support structures. Grip Steps require a support brace (Item #8) that must be attached to the step board using a 5/16" bolt. Mega/Omega Steps do not use the support brace. During installation, Grip Step brackets slide toward the rear of the vehicle, while Mega/Omega Step brackets slide toward the front. Grip Steps typically use the bottom hole locations for the lower bracket, while Mega/Omega Steps use the upper hole locations.
Required tools include a drill with a 1/8" drill bit (for step pad pilot holes). For the 571528 Ford Transit rear step installation, you will also need a 3/8" drill bit (for the support brace hole on Grip Steps). Standard wrenches or sockets are needed to install and tighten bolts and nuts. A level is recommended to ensure the steps are positioned correctly before final tightening.
Yes. The O-MEGA II steps (models 583254, 584254) require a vehicle-specific bracket package that must be obtained separately. The bracket package is not included in the step kit. You must follow the instructions included with your specific bracket package to mount the brackets to your vehicle before attaching the steps.
Yes. The manual explicitly states to read the instructions completely and check that all required parts are on hand before starting installation. This applies to both the O-MEGA II universal steps and the 571528 Ford Transit rear steps. Verify that all parts listed in the Service Parts List are present before beginning work.
Place the step pads (Item #2) on top of the step plates. Using the holes in the step pad as a guide, drill five 1/8" pilot holes through the step pad into the step plate. Attach the step pad using five #8-18 × 1/2" TEK screws (Item #6). Repeat this process for all step pads. The step pads must be installed before attaching the steps to the brackets.
Install the end caps (Item #3) as shown in Figure 1 on the sides of the step. Tighten the serrated nuts (Item #5) to 5 lb ft. The end caps are plastic and should be installed after the step pads are attached but before the step is mounted to the brackets.
Position the step so that the square head screws (Item #4) are located in the slots of the mounting brackets and the step is centered side to side on the vehicle. Install 5/16" serrated flange nuts (Item #5) on the square head screws and tighten to 19 lb ft. Ensure the step is level and centered before final tightening.
1. Remove the two factory bolts on the outside of the rear frame rails on the left side (these will be reused). 2. Install the upper bracket using the removed factory bolts. 3. Install the lower bracket using 1/2" bolts, flange nuts, and flat washers (do not tighten yet). 4. For Grip Steps, install the support brace on the bottom hole of the lower bracket. For Mega/Omega Steps, do not install the support brace. 5. Repeat for the opposite side. 6. Attach the step board per its instructions. 7. For Grip Steps, drill a 3/8" hole through the step board where the support brace meets it, then attach the support brace with a 5/16" bolt. 8. Ensure everything is level and positioned correctly, then tighten all bolts.
Bracket positioning depends on the step type. For Grip Steps, slide the brackets all the way out toward the rear of the vehicle. For Mega/Omega Steps, slide the brackets all the way in toward the front of the vehicle. Additionally, Grip Steps typically use the bottom hole locations for the lower bracket, while Mega/Omega Steps use the upper hole locations.
No. The manual explicitly states "DO NOT TIGHTEN BOLTS AT THIS TIME" when installing the lower bracket (step 4). All bolts must remain loose during the assembly process. Tighten all bolts only after the step board is attached, the support brace (if applicable) is installed, and you have verified that everything is level and positioned correctly (step 7).
Yes. You must drill five 1/8" pilot holes through each step pad into the step plate to attach the step pads using TEK screws. The pilot holes use the holes in the step pad as a guide. This drilling is required for all O-MEGA II installations.
Yes. When installing Grip Steps on the 571528, you must drill a 3/8" hole through the step board where the support brace meets the board. This hole is used to attach the support brace to the step board with a 5/16" bolt. This drilling is not required for Mega/Omega Steps, as the support brace is not used.
The serrated nuts (Item #5) on the end caps (Item #3) should be tightened to 5 lb ft.
The 5/16" serrated flange nuts (Item #5) on the square head screws (Item #4) should be tightened to 19 lb ft.
The upper bracket is installed using the two factory bolts that are removed from the outside of the rear frame rails. These factory bolts are reused and should be tightened after final positioning.
The lower bracket uses 1/2" – 13 × 1.50" hex head screws (Item #5), 1/2" – 13 flange nuts (Item #6), and 0.56 × 1.38 × 0.109" flat washers (Item #7). Four of each fastener are required per side. These bolts should not be tightened until after the step board is attached and everything is verified to be level and positioned correctly.
The support brace (Item #8) is attached to the step board using a 5/16" – 18 × 1" hex head screw (Item #9), a 0.375 × 0.875 × 0.083" flat washer (Item #11), and a 5/16" – 18 flange nut (Item #10). A 3/8" hole must be drilled through the step board where the support brace meets it before attachment.
Yes. The manual states "ENSURE THAT EVERYTHING IS LEVEL AND POSITIONED CORRECTLY" before tightening all bolts. This applies to both the O-MEGA II universal steps and the 571528 Ford Transit rear steps. Use a level to verify proper positioning before final tightening.
Models 583254 and 584254 are universal application steps that require a vehicle-specific bracket package (sold separately). For 2015+ Ford Transit Vans, use model 571528 instead. Confirm fitment with your bracket package instructions.
You need a drill with 1/8" and 3/8" bits (for Grip Steps on 571528), standard wrenches or sockets, and a level. A bracket package (sold separately) is also required.
End cap nuts: 5 lb ft. Square head screw nuts (mounting to brackets): 19 lb ft. For 571528, tighten all bolts only after final positioning and leveling.
No. Leave all bolts loose during assembly. Tighten them only after the step board is attached, support brace (if applicable) is installed, and everything is verified to be level and positioned correctly.
No. The support brace (Item #8) is used only with Grip Steps. Mega/Omega Steps do not use the support brace.
For Grip Steps, slide brackets toward the rear. For Mega/Omega Steps, slide brackets toward the front. Grip Steps use bottom hole locations; Mega/Omega Steps use upper hole locations.
