Get the job done right with LUVERNE Grip Step 7" running boards. These roughneck truck side steps feature a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing. They are built from aluminum alloy for exceptional, rust-free strength, and they are simple to install using high-strength vehicle-specific brackets. The rugged, expanded metal tread and angular design of Grip Step running boards truly makes them a side accessory fit for your work truck or commercial van. No matter the season, the superior traction of Grip Steps locks onto the bottom of your boots and provides safe vehicle entry and exit. Because they boast an impress ive 7" width, the side steps are as comfortable as they are skid-resistant. We know the job doesn't make exceptions to keep your vehicle looking pretty, and that is why Grip Step running boards are made from aluminum and shielded in a tough powder coat finish. We use a 5052 aluminum alloy to provide maximum strength and unstoppable rust resistance. To finish things off and add a professional touch, we also apply a durable textured black powder coat and contoured black plastic end caps to further protect against dirt, moisture and other threats on the job. To make installation as simple as possible, Grip Step 7" running boards are each designed for a custom-fit installation, using vehicle-specific mounting brackets. The brackets are covered in a durable black powder coat finish and bolt onto the boards using stainless steel fasteners for long-lasting strength. This particular set of Grip Step running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Ram 1500 and Dodge Ram 1500 (see application info to verify fitment). These running boards come with brackets, but the brackets are shipped separately.
Grip Step running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work trucks, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

Yes, the 401632 is designed for 2009 and newer Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab and Crew Cab pickups. However, 2009–2012 models without obround holes in the pinchweld will require drilling two 5/16" holes for each bracket to achieve proper mounting location.
Yes, the 401632 is compatible with 2010 and newer Dodge Ram HD Crew Cab, Mega Cab, and Chassis Cab models.
Trucks with threaded inserts use M8 X 25mm screws (Item #6) directly into the upper mounting flange slots. Trucks without threaded inserts require installation of a T-bolt weldment (Item #9) into the large obround hole in the rocker panel vertical wall, with an M8 flange nut (Item #8) and the M8 screw securing the upper flange. Both methods leave fasteners finger-tight until step plates are installed and adjusted.
Yes, if your truck does not have obround holes in the pinchweld, you must drill two 5/16" holes for each bracket. To locate the holes, follow Step 2.5 to position the T-bolt, then mark the pinchweld with the bracket in place before drilling.
The kit includes: 12 carriage bolts 1/4-20 X 1" (Item #3), 12 flat washers 1/4" (Item #4), 12 flange nuts 1/4-20 (Item #5), 12 M8 X 25mm hex head screws (Item #6), 12 flat washers 5/16" (Item #7), 6 M8 flange nuts (Item #8), 6 T-bolt weldments (Item #9), and 6 plastic bolt retainers 8mm (Item #10). The kit also includes 3 driver-side front brackets (Item #1) and 3 passenger-side front brackets (Item #2).
On the driver side, use Item #1 (front bracket), Item #2 (middle bracket), and Item #1 (rear bracket). On the passenger side, the installation is a mirror image: use Item #2 (front bracket), Item #1 (middle bracket), and Item #2 (rear bracket). The lower mounting flange must be positioned to the outside of the pinchweld.
Place the lower mounting flange to the outside of the pinchweld. Align the two rectangular holes in the lower mounting flange with the two obround holes in the pinchweld, then insert the carriage bolts through both.
Two 1/4-20 X 1" carriage bolts (Item #3) are inserted through the lower mounting flange and pinchweld. Each bolt is secured with a 1/4" flat washer (Item #4) and a 1/4-20 flange nut (Item #5) on the inside of the pinchweld. Leave these fasteners finger-tight until step plates are installed and adjusted.
Insert an M8 X 25mm screw (Item #6) with a 5/16" flat washer (Item #7) through the slots on the upper mounting flange into the threaded insert. Leave the fastener finger-tight until step plates are installed and adjusted.
Insert the T-bolt weldment (Item #9) into the large obround hole in the rocker panel vertical wall, nut end first, leaving the threaded stud sticking out. Immediately attach the plastic bolt retainer (Item #10) to the threaded stud to prevent the T-bolt from falling into the rocker panel. Then place a 5/16" flat washer (Item #7) and M8 flange nut (Item #8) on the threaded stud, leaving it finger-tight.
The plastic bolt retainer (Item #10) is attached to the T-bolt weldment (Item #9) threaded stud to prevent the T-bolt from falling into the rocker panel during installation.
After installing the T-bolt weldment and flange nut, rotate the T-bolt so that the threaded nut is visible through the slotted hole in the upper mounting flange. Then insert the M8 X 25mm screw (Item #6) with a 5/16" flat washer (Item #7) through the slot. Leave the screw finger-tight until step plates are installed and adjusted.
All fasteners must be left finger-tight during initial installation. Tighten all fasteners only after the step plates are installed and the brackets and boards are adjusted to the desired position.
Drill two 5/16" holes for each bracket in the pinchweld. Position the bracket with the T-bolt installed (following Step 2.5), then mark the pinchweld for drilling while the bracket is in place.
The kit includes 6 brackets total: 3 driver-side front brackets (Item #1, part number 553092) and 3 passenger-side front brackets (Item #2, part number 553093). These are used as front, middle, and rear brackets on each side, with orientation varying by position.
Yes, the 401632 fits 2009+ Dodge Ram 1500 Quad/Crew Cab and 2010+ Ram HD Crew/Mega Cab and Chassis Cab models. 2009–2012 models without obround holes in the pinchweld require drilling two 5/16" holes per bracket.
All fasteners are included: carriage bolts, washers, flange nuts, hex head screws, T-bolt weldments, and plastic retainers. See the Service Parts List for quantities and part numbers.
Only if your truck is a 2009–2012 model without obround holes in the pinchweld. You will need to drill two 5/16" holes for each bracket.
Leave all fasteners finger-tight during installation. Tighten them only after the step plates are installed and the brackets and boards are adjusted to the desired position.
With threaded inserts: M8 screws go directly into the upper flange slots. Without threaded inserts: a T-bolt weldment is installed in the rocker panel obround hole, then the M8 screw secures through the upper flange slot into the T-bolt nut.
