Get the job done right with LUVERNE Grip Step 7" running boards. These roughneck truck side steps feature a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing. They are built from aluminum alloy for exceptional, rust-free strength, and they are simple to install using high-strength vehicle-specific brackets. The rugged, expanded metal tread and angular design of Grip Step running boards truly makes them a side accessory fit for your work truck or commercial van. No matter the season, the superior traction of Grip Steps locks onto the bo ttom of your boots and provides safe vehicle entry and exit. Because they boast an impressive 7" width, the side steps are as comfortable as they are skid-resistant. We know the job doesn't make exceptions to keep your vehicle looking pretty, and that is why Grip Step running boards are made from aluminum and shielded in a tough powder coat finish. We use a 5052 aluminum alloy to provide maximum strength and unstoppable rust resistance. To finish things off and add a professional touch, we also apply a durable textured black powder coat and contoured black plastic end caps to further protect against dirt, moisture and other threats on the job. To make installation as simple as possible, Grip Step 7" running boards are each designed for a custom-fit installation, using vehicle-specific mounting brackets. The brackets are covered in a durable black powder coat finish and bolt onto the boards using stainless steel fasteners for long-lasting strength. This particular set of Grip Step running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Ford F150 (see application info to verify fitment). These running boards come with brackets, but the brackets are shipped separately.
Grip Step running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work trucks, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The LUVERNE Grip Step 7" x 78" Black Aluminum Running Boards, Select Ford F-150 415078-400922 (Part #FTNF415078-400922) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The Model 400922 step brackets are designed specifically for 2004 Ford F-150 Super Cab and SuperCrew Cab pickups. The installation differs slightly between these two cab styles: Super Cab models use two center mounting brackets, while SuperCrew models use a different configuration with an angle bracket. Confirm your cab style before purchasing.
Yes. Super Cab models attach two center mounting brackets (Item #1) to the vehicle using U-nuts and pinch weld fasteners. SuperCrew models attach the second-from-front mounting bracket and require an angle bracket (Item #6) to be attached to the mounting bracket before installation. The angle bracket is positioned with the angle towards the multi-thread U-nut. Both configurations use the same fastener specifications and 19 lb-ft torque value.
The bracket package includes: 8 mounting brackets (551851), 8 hex head cap screws 5/16" × 1.00" black plated (106997), 8 black plated flat washers (106998), 10 serrated flange nuts (102680), 4 multi-thread U-nuts 5/16"-18 (104264), 2 angle brackets for SuperCrew (551559), 6 zinc-plated hex head cap screws 5/16" × 1.00" (100647), 6 zinc-plated flat washers (100034), and 4 self-tapping screws 5/16" × 3/4" (104267). The step assembly itself is installed separately per its own instructions.
You will need a drill with bits sized for 11/32" and 7/32" holes, a wrench or socket set to fit 5/16" fasteners, and a level to ensure brackets are properly aligned. A clamp is needed to hold brackets in position during drilling. The manual does not specify additional tools or whether professional installation is recommended.
The manual does not specify removal of any components. Installation involves clamping brackets into position and drilling into the pinch weld and rocker panel areas. You should read the complete instructions and verify all required parts are on hand before starting.
Install 5/16" multi-thread U-nuts (Item #5) in two locations on the rocker panel: in the top rear hole of the second pattern from the front, and in the top front hole of the third pattern from the front. The threads must face toward the inside of the rocker panel. Insert the threaded half through the large access holes and slide the U-nut toward the round hole until it seats.
Clamp the front and rear brackets into position approximately 6" from the back of the cab and 6" from the front of the cab. For Super Cab models, position the two center mounting brackets so the top hole lines up with the multi-thread U-nut and the offset hole aligns with the pinch weld hole. For SuperCrew models, position the second-from-front bracket with the angle bracket attached, angle facing toward the U-nut. Level the brackets before tightening fasteners.
Drill two holes: an 11/32" hole in the pinch weld area to line up with the bottom hole in the bracket, and a 7/32" hole into the top of the rocker panel for the self-tapping screw. Both holes are required for proper bracket attachment.
Yes. You must drill an 11/32" hole in the pinch weld area and a 7/32" hole in the rocker panel. Clamp the brackets into position before drilling to ensure alignment. These are permanent modifications to the vehicle.
All 5/16" fasteners must be torqued to 19 lb-ft. This applies to all hex head cap screws, serrated flange nuts, and fasteners used throughout the installation.
The bottom of each bracket attaches to the pinch weld using: a 5/16" × 1.00" black plated hex head cap screw (Item #2), a 5/16" black plated flat washer (Item #3), and a 5/16" serrated flange nut (Item #4). These fasteners must be torqued to 19 lb-ft.
The top of the mounting bracket attaches using a 5/16" × 1.00" zinc-plated hex head cap screw (Item #7) and a 5/16" zinc-plated flat washer (Item #8). These fasteners must be torqued to 19 lb-ft. For SuperCrew models, the angle bracket is attached to the mounting bracket using the same fastener specification plus a serrated flange nut (Item #4).
After drilling a 7/32" hole into the top of the rocker panel, install a self-tapping screw (Item #9, 5/16" × 3/4") into the small hole and tighten. Be careful not to over-tighten, as this can damage the rocker panel.
Attach the angle bracket (Item #6) to the mounting bracket (Item #1) using a 5/16" × 1.00" zinc-plated hex head cap screw (Item #7), a 5/16" zinc-plated flat washer (Item #8), and a 5/16" serrated flange nut (Item #4). Position the angle toward the multi-thread U-nut in the hole that is offset from the pinch weld hole. Then follow the same attachment procedure as step 4.1.
1. Read all instructions and verify all parts are present. 2. Install 5/16" multi-thread U-nuts in the rocker panel (threads facing inward). 3. Clamp front and rear brackets into position and drill 11/32" holes in the pinch weld, then attach with black-plated fasteners. 4. Drill 7/32" holes in the rocker panel and install self-tapping screws. 5. For Super Cab: attach two center mounting brackets using U-nuts and pinch weld fasteners. For SuperCrew: attach angle bracket to mounting bracket, then attach to vehicle. 6. Level all brackets and tighten all fasteners to 19 lb-ft. 7. Install the step assembly per its separate instructions.
Ensure all brackets are level before final tightening. Verify all 5/16" fasteners are torqued to 19 lb-ft. Check that the self-tapping screws in the rocker panel are tight but not over-tightened. Confirm the step assembly is installed per its separate instructions. The manual does not specify post-installation inspection intervals or retorque requirements.
