LUVERNE MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards give you the best of both worlds with a ready-to-work construction and the stylish of popular nerf bars. They feature high-traction rubber treads, a sleek finish and a non-corrosive build -- all to give you dependable footing whether you're headed for work or play. MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards are uniquely designed with extra length on the rear of the boards, reaching all the way to the back wheels. This provides a convenient and secure step for reaching into the truck bed and accessing the crossover truck tool box, headache rack or 5th wheel hitch. The entire length of the running boards is covered with a non-skid rubber tread for enhanced safety, even in wet, rainy conditions. Unlike plastic treads, rubber offers better grip for your boots or shoes. The base of MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards is an extruded aluminum alloy, providing excellent strength, while remaining lightweight and completely rust-free. To give these truck side steps a touch of style, they are fitted with a polished stainless steel trim that contours around the boards and gives them a look similar to popular nerf bars. The trim piece is polished to a mirror-like shine and easily withstands rain, snow, dirt and more. To make installation fast, easy and secure, LUVERNE MegaStep wheel-to-wheel steps are made vehicle-specific. Each set has a specific board length and vehicle-specific brackets, providing a custom fit for each unique truck. The brackets install using pre-existing mounting points to eliminate difficult modifications, and the running boards can be positioned inward, outward, forward or backward to suit personal preferences. This particular set of MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed for specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500, 2500, 2500 HD, 3500 or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 2500 HD, 3500 or 3500 HD (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" wheel-to-wheel running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality, featuring 5" wide rubber treads that extend the full length of the side steps for dependable, non-skid traction wherever the road takes you.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

Yes, the 571117 W2W MEGA STEP is designed for 2011 and newer 1500/2500/3500 Series Chevrolet and GMC regular, extended, and crew cab pickups. For 1500 models specifically, you must also attach bracket 551571 to brackets 551902 and 551905 (the center mounting brackets) in order to use the load reaction studs.
Yes, the 571117 is compatible with regular cab pickups. However, regular cab applications use only the front and center mounting brackets (items 2, 3, 4, 5) and do not use the rear cab mounting bracket assembly.
Yes, the 571117 is compatible with 2011 and newer GMC Sierra 1500/2500/3500 Series regular, extended, and crew cab pickups.
The kit includes mounting brackets, load reaction studs, fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, screws), and hardware. The mega step board assembly (item 1) is sold separately and length varies depending on application. All bracket and hardware part numbers are listed in the service parts list on page 3 of the manual.
On the short threaded end of the load reaction stud (item 16), install a black 3/8" serrated flange nut (item 15) backwards to the bottom of the thread. Then install a black 3/8" flat washer (item 14) and rubber cushion washer (item 13) tight against the serrated flange nut, with the end of the stud recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". On the long threaded end, install a black 3/8" serrated flange nut (item 15) backwards to near the bottom of the threads.
Insert the stud from the inboard (frame side) through the lowest hole in the bent flange of the body brackets that allows the rubber washer to seat firmly against the side wall of the frame. Install a black flange nut (item 15) on the outboard end of the stud finger tight only at this stage.
Yes. You must remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts one side of the vehicle at a time and install the mounting brackets in their place. After installing the brackets finger tight, you will tighten the body mount bolts per manufacturer's specifications.
Install the rear outboard cab mounting brackets (items 6 and 7) to the rear inboard cab mounting bracket (item 8) using 3/8" black zinc plated bolts (item 17), washers (item 14), and serrated flange nuts (item 15). The rear outboard bracket must be mounted to the back side of the rear inboard bracket (towards the rear of the vehicle). Use the bottom single hole and bottom double holes in the rear inboard bracket. Put the bolts through the front side so the serrated flange nuts are on the back side for frame clearance. Torque the bolts to 19 lb. ft.
Use the bottom single hole and top double holes in the rear inboard bracket. Put the bolts through the front side so the serrated flange nuts are on the back side for frame clearance. Torque the bolts to 19 lb. ft.
Loosen the spring hanger bolt just enough to slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item 10) up behind the flange of the bolt. Position it behind the flange with the channel open to the outboard side. Install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item 9) so its inboard vertical portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket, using 3/8" zinc plated bolt, washers, 1/2" washers, and 3/8" zinc plated nylock nut (items 18-21). Leave fasteners finger tight at this stage.
Insert four 5/16" square head screws (item 11) in the center slot on the underside of the step (or three screws if using cab length boards). Position the step on the mounting brackets so the square head screws are in the center two slots of the brackets and the front of the step is about even with the rear metallic flange of the front wheel well. Locate the step in and out as desired and install 5/16" serrated flange nuts (item 12) on the square head screws. Tighten the nuts to 19 lb. ft.
During initial installation, keep the following fasteners finger tight only: the front mounting bracket fasteners (section 4.1), the center mounting bracket fasteners (section 4.2), the rear inboard mounting bracket fasteners (section 4.3), and the spring hanger mounting bracket fasteners (section 5.2). Tighten these to final torque only after the step board is installed and positioned.
Torque the 3/8" bolts connecting the rear outboard and rear inboard cab mounting brackets to 19 lb. ft.
Tighten the 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws to 19 lb. ft.
Tighten all remaining 3/8" bolts and nuts to 19 lb. ft. after the step board is installed and the body mount bolts and spring hanger bolt are tightened to manufacturer's specifications.
Tighten the body mount bolts per manufacturer's specifications. The manual does not provide the specific torque value; consult your vehicle's service manual or contact CURT Manufacturing for the correct torque specification.
