LUVERNE MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards give you the best of both worlds with a ready-to-work construction and the stylish of popular nerf bars. They feature high-traction rubber treads, a sleek finish and a non-corrosive build -- all to give you dependable footing whether you're headed for work or play. MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards are uniquely designed with extra length on the rear of the boards, reaching all the way to the back wheels. This provides a convenient and secure step for reaching into the truck bed and accessing the crossover truck tool box, headache rack or 5th wheel hitch. The entire length of the running boards is covered with a non-skid rubber tread for enhanced safety, even in wet, rainy conditions. Unlike plastic treads, rubber offers better grip for your boots or shoes. The base of MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards is an extruded aluminum alloy, providing excellent strength, while remaining lightweight and completely rust-free. To give these truck side steps a touch of style, they are fitted with a polished stainless steel trim that contours around the boards and gives them a look similar to popular nerf bars. The trim piece is polished to a mirror-like shine and easily withstands rain, snow, dirt and more. To make installation fast, easy and secure, LUVERNE MegaStep wheel-to-wheel steps are made vehicle-specific. Each set has a specific board length and vehicle-specific brackets, providing a custom fit for each unique truck. The brackets install using pre-existing mounting points to eliminate difficult modifications, and the running boards can be positioned inward, outward, forward or backward to suit personal preferences. This particular set of MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed for specific years of the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" wheel-to-wheel running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality, featuring 5" wide rubber treads that extend the full length of the side steps for dependable, non-skid traction wherever the road takes you.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

Yes, the CURT 571747 MEGA STEP brackets are designed for 2015 and newer GM 2500/3500HD pickups with both gas and diesel engines. The brackets use a body mount application and require no drilling. However, if you have a 1500 pickup, you will need to attach an additional small 90° bracket (Item #14) to the front brackets during installation.
The manual does not explicitly state whether the 571747 is designed for 1500 pickups. However, it notes that if installing on a 1500 pickup, you must attach a small 90° bracket (Item #14) to the front brackets. This suggests a 1500 installation may be possible with this modification, but you should confirm fitment with CURT before purchasing, as the primary application is 2500/3500HD models.
No. The CURT 571747 is a no-drill application. Installation uses the factory body mount bolt locations and spring hanger bolts, so no drilling, cutting, or welding is required.
The kit includes mounting brackets (front, center, rear inboard and outboard), load reaction studs with hardware, spring hanger mounting brackets, fasteners (hex head screws, serrated flange nuts, flat washers, rubber washers, lock nuts), and a 90° bracket for 1500 applications. The step boards themselves are not listed in the parts list and must be obtained separately. Refer to the service parts list on page 2 for the complete inventory of all 21 items.
The step boards are not listed in the service parts list provided with the brackets. Step 7 of the installation instructions states to install the step boards per instructions included with the step boards themselves, indicating they are purchased separately. Contact CURT or your retailer to confirm what step board model is compatible and whether it is included with your purchase.
The installation sequence is: (1) Pre-assemble the front bracket on the left side with fasteners torqued to 19 lb-ft. (2) Assemble the load reaction studs with hardware. (3) Attach the load reaction stud assemblies to the mounting brackets. (4) Remove factory body mount bolts and install the front, center, and rear mounting brackets finger-tight. (5) Attach the rear outboard bracket to the rear inboard bracket, torqued to 19 lb-ft. (6) Attach spring hanger mounting brackets. (7) Install step boards per their instructions. (8) Tighten the load reaction flange nuts to 19 lb-ft. (9) Repeat steps 1–7 for the right side. Finally, torque all body mount fasteners to manufacturer specifications.
Fasteners are left finger-tight during the initial mounting steps (Steps 5 and 6) to allow for positioning and alignment of all brackets before final tightening. This ensures all components fit correctly together. Final tightening to specification torque occurs in Steps 5.4 and 8, after all brackets are positioned and the load reaction rubber cushion is snug against the frame.
On the short threaded end of the load reaction stud (Item #12), install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #11) backwards to the bottom of the thread, then install a 3/8" flat washer (Item #19) and rubber cushion washer (Item #10) tight against the serrated flange nut. The end of the stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". On the long threaded end, install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #11) backwards near the bottom of the threads. The kit includes 6 load reaction studs, so this assembly is repeated 6 times (3 per side).
Insert the stud from the inboard (frame) side through the lowest hole in the bent flange of the bracket that will allow the rubber washer to seat firmly against the side wall of the frame. Install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #11) on the outboard end of the stud, finger-tight only at this stage. The rubber cushion must be snug against the frame side before final tightening to 19 lb-ft in Step 8.
The front mounting bracket (Items #2 for left, #3 for right) is the main bracket that attaches to the factory front body mount. The front inboard bracket (Item #4, qty 2) is a secondary bracket that is pre-assembled to the front mounting bracket using three 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws, flat washers, and flange nuts, torqued to 19 lb-ft. The inboard bracket provides additional mounting surface for the load reaction studs.
Loosen the spring hanger bolt just enough to slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (Item #16) up behind the flange of the bolt, with the channel open to the outboard side. Using a 3/8"-16 bolt, 3/8" washer, 1/2" washer, and 3/8" lock nut (Items #19–21), install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket (Item #17) so that the inboard vertical portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket. Leave these fasteners finger-tight initially. Final tightening occurs after the step boards are installed and the load reaction rubber cushion is snug against the frame.
No. Step 7 explicitly states that the mounting brackets must not touch the inside wall of the body mount housing. Ensure proper positioning and clearance during installation.
All 3/8"-16 fasteners used in the CURT 571747 installation are torqued to 19 lb-ft. This applies to: the front bracket pre-assembly (Step 2), the rear outboard bracket attachment (Step 5.4), and the load reaction stud flange nuts (Step 8). The factory body mount fasteners must be torqued to manufacturer specifications, not to 19 lb-ft.
The manual states that body mount fasteners must be torqued to manufacturer specifications, not to the 19 lb-ft used for the bracket fasteners. Refer to your GM service manual or contact a GM dealer for the correct torque value for your specific vehicle.
The kit uses 3/8"-16 UNC fasteners throughout: 3/8"-16 x 1.0" hex head screws (Item #13, qty 12), 3/8"-16 x 2.0" hex head screws (Item #18, qty 2), 3/8" serrated flange nuts (Item #11, qty 30), 3/8" flat washers (Item #19, qty 22), 1/2" flat washers (Item #20, qty 4), 3/8" self-locking nuts (Item #21, qty 2), and rubber washers (Item #10, qty 6). All fasteners are zinc-plated steel.
The manual warns that due to excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area on 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra vehicles, use caution when removing the body mount bolts. This applies to the 2015+ models covered by this manual. Take extra time and care when removing these bolts to avoid stripping or breaking them.
CURT recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E: Clunking Noise from Rear of Vehicle (Re-torque Leaf Spring Bolts) for 2007–2017 Chevrolet and GMC trucks. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in damage to the vehicle. Periodically check that all fasteners remain at their specified torque values.
The manual does not specify a re-torque interval for the bracket fasteners themselves. However, it recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM TSB 09-03-09-001E, which includes re-torquing leaf spring bolts. It is good practice to check all fasteners after the first few hundred miles of driving to ensure they remain tight.
Yes, the CURT 571747 MEGA STEP brackets fit 2015 and newer GM 2500/3500HD pickups with gas or diesel engines. No drilling is required. A 90° bracket must be added for 1500 applications.
No. The CURT 571747 is a no-drill application that uses factory body mount and spring hanger bolt locations.
No. The step boards are purchased separately. The bracket kit includes all mounting hardware and brackets only.
All 3/8"-16 bracket fasteners are torqued to 19 lb-ft. Factory body mount bolts must be torqued to GM manufacturer specifications.
Use caution when removing body mount bolts due to excessive thread locker. Take extra time to avoid stripping or breaking the bolts.
Regularly inspect and maintain the leaf spring attachment point per GM TSB 09-03-09-001E. Periodically check that all fasteners remain at their specified torque values.
