LUVERNE MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards give you the best of both worlds with a ready-to-work construction and the stylish of popular nerf bars. They feature high-traction rubber treads, a sleek finish and a non-corrosive build -- all to give you dependable footing whether you're headed for work or play. MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards are uniquely designed with extra length on the rear of the boards, reachin g all the way to the back wheels. This provides a convenient and secure step for reaching into the truck bed and accessing the crossover truck tool box, headache rack or 5th wheel hitch. The entire length of the running boards is covered with a non-skid rubber tread for enhanced safety, even in wet, rainy conditions. Unlike plastic treads, rubber offers better grip for your boots or shoes. The base of MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards is an extruded aluminum alloy, providing excellent strength, while remaining lightweight and completely rust-free. To give these truck side steps a touch of style, they are fitted with a polished stainless steel trim that contours around the boards and gives them a look similar to popular nerf bars. The trim piece is polished to a mirror-like shine and easily withstands rain, snow, dirt and more. To make installation fast, easy and secure, LUVERNE MegaStep wheel-to-wheel steps are made vehicle-specific. Each set has a specific board length and vehicle-specific brackets, providing a custom fit for each unique truck. The brackets install using pre-existing mounting points to eliminate difficult modifications, and the running boards can be positioned inward, outward, forward or backward to suit personal preferences. This particular set of MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed for specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500, 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" wheel-to-wheel running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality, featuring 5" wide rubber treads that extend the full length of the side steps for dependable, non-skid traction wherever the road takes you.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

Yes, the CURT 571447 MEGA STEP is designed for 2014 and newer GM 1500 pickups with gas engines. It is a rocker panel mount, no-drill application.
Yes, the CURT 571447 MEGA STEP is compatible with 2015 GM 2500/3500HD pickups with gas engines. It is a rocker panel mount, no-drill application.
Yes, the CURT 571447 MEGA STEP is a no-drill application. It mounts to the rocker panel pinch weld and vertical wall using existing holes. Fasteners are provided for all applications, and the hole configuration may vary depending on the vehicle.
The kit includes: mounting brackets (left and right), pinch weld support brackets, spring hanger mounting brackets (inboard and outboard), U-nuts, hex bolts in 5/16" and M8-1.25 sizes, flat washers in 5/16", 3/8", and 1/2" sizes, and self-locking nuts. All fasteners needed for installation are provided. The step board assembly is ordered separately.
You must remove plastic body plugs located on the vertical wall of the rocker panel on the left side of the vehicle before inserting U-nuts. No other factory components require removal. The spring hanger bolt must be loosened just enough to slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket behind its flange, but does not need to be fully removed.
1. Remove plastic body plugs from the rocker panel vertical wall and insert U-nuts. 2. Position mounting brackets and install rocker panel fasteners finger tight. 3. Install pinch weld support fasteners finger tight. 4. Attach spring hanger mounting brackets (inboard and outboard) finger tight. 5. Install the step board per its included instructions. 6. Press the step down and back, then tighten all mounting bolts to 19 lb-ft, starting with the bottom bolts followed by the top bolts. 7. Repeat for the right side.
Leave all fasteners finger tight during the initial assembly steps. Only after the step board is installed should you press the step down and back, then tighten all mounting bolts to 19 lb-ft, starting with the bottom bolts followed by the top bolts.
Loosen the spring hanger bolt just enough to slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #10) up behind the flange of the bolt, with the channel open to the outboard side. Then install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #11) using a 3/8"-16 bolt, 3/8" washer, 1/2" washer, and 3/8" lock nut, so that the inboard vertical portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket. Leave these fasteners finger tight until final tightening.
Tighten all mounting bolts to 19 lb-ft. Start with the bottom bolts, then tighten the top bolts. This applies to both the rocker panel and spring hanger mounting bolts.
For rocker panel mounting, use 5/16"-18 X 1.0" hex bolts (item #5) with 5/16" flat washers (item #4) for the upper location. For the pinch weld support, use black M8-1.25 X 30 mm hex bolts (item #9) with 5/16" flat washers (item #4) and M8-1.25 nuts (item #6). If threaded inserts are present in the upper location, use the black M8-1.25 X 30 mm bolts instead of the 5/16" bolts.
For spring hanger mounting, use 3/8"-16 X 2" hex bolts (item #12), 3/8" flat washers (item #13), 1/2" flat washers (item #14), and 3/8"-16 self-locking nuts (item #15). These fasteners attach the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket.
A U-nut (item #7, 5/16"-18) is inserted into the holes on the vertical wall of the rocker panel after removing the plastic body plugs. It provides a threaded anchor point for the rocker panel mounting bolts. Six U-nuts are included in the kit.
The step board is ordered separately and must be installed following the instructions included with the step board. The CURT 571447 kit provides only the mounting brackets.
