Tekonsha T-One connector (also referred to as T-Connector) wiring harnesses are the fastest and easiest way to add an electrical connector to the back of your vehicle. These connectors are used to link the wiring from your vehicle to the trailer when towing. Tekonsha T-One connectors feature custom designs to fit each vehicle make and model based on manufacturer specifications. Plus, the Plug & Play connectors on the end of the wires make it easy to install. No cutting or splicing!
Tekonsha offers the largest, most complete line of T-One connectors. To install a Tekonsha T-One wiring harness, simply locate your vehicle's wiring harness connector typically behind the vehicle taillight - unplug the connection and insert the T-Connector into the vehicle's harness. It's that easy! So what are you waiting for? Hit the road with the peace of mind only Tekonsha can provide. Life's a Journey. Stop Often.

Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

The T-Connector is an electrical device that integrates with your vehicle's taillight wiring harness to enable trailer lighting functions. It uses a black box mounted in the trunk area and connects to both the driver's and passenger's side taillight wiring through colour-coded connectors (yellow for driver's side, green for passenger's side). A white ground wire completes the circuit. The connector must be fully connected and tested before use.
The manual does not specify which vehicle makes, models, or years are compatible with the T-Connector. Before purchasing, verify compatibility with the manufacturer or consult your vehicle's owner's manual. The installation requires access to the rear taillight wiring harness on both driver's and passenger's sides, and the ability to remove interior trim panels and trunk components.
You will need: 10 mm socket and ratchet or 10 mm wrench, drill, Phillips head screwdriver, and test probe. The manual also specifies that you should have a test light or trailer available to verify the installation once complete.
The T-Connector kit includes: double-sided tape for mounting the black box, cable ties for securing the harness, an eyelet and screw for securing the white ground wire, and a 4-Flat connector. All fasteners needed for installation are provided.
The manual does not specify whether battery disconnection is required. Contact the manufacturer or consult your vehicle's owner's manual for guidance on electrical work safety.
You must remove: the rear access panels on both driver's and passenger's sides to locate the rear of the taillights, the threshold, trunk floor panels, and trays. You will also need to partially remove the lower interior trim panels on each side of the vehicle. Remove two screws in the threshold plate area to gain access behind the trim panels. Set all removed items aside carefully to avoid damage.
On both driver's and passenger's sides, locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors. Separate these connectors carefully without breaking the locking tabs. Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt. Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire on the driver's side between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock into place, ensuring connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Route the T-Connector end with the green wire to the passenger's side and repeat the process.
Yes. You must drill a 3/32" hole to secure the white ground wire. Before drilling, verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into the vehicle floor, bed, or any exposed surfaces. Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector such as the vehicle's frame or cross member, clean dirt and rustproofing from the area, drill the 3/32" hole, and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided.
The ground wire hole must be 3/32" in diameter. This hole is drilled into a suitable grounding point such as the vehicle's frame or cross member, and the white ground wire is secured using the eyelet and screw provided in the kit.
The T-Connector uses three colour-coded wires: yellow wire connects to the driver's side taillight wiring, green wire connects to the passenger's side taillight wiring, and white wire is the ground connection. The yellow and green wires are inserted between the vehicle's existing taillight connectors on their respective sides, and the white wire is secured to a grounding point on the vehicle's frame or cross member.
Mount the T-Connector black box using the double-sided tape provided. Secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness with the cable ties provided. To prevent damage or rattling, be careful to avoid any areas that would cut or pinch the wire. The black box should be positioned near the connector in the trunk area.
Do not exceed the lower of your towing manufacturer's rating or these limits: maximum stop/turn light is 1 per side (2.1 amps), and maximum tail lights is 5.0 amps. Overloading the circuit can cause fires. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual and instruction sheet for additional information on your specific towing capacity.
All connections must be complete for the T-Connector to function properly. Test and verify the installation with a test light or trailer once installed. The manual requires that you perform this verification before using the connector with a trailer.
Store the 4-Flat connector in the trunk or rear cargo area when not in use.
Yes. After completing the T-Connector installation, reposition the access panels, trays, and trunk floor panels and reattach the threshold. Ensure all removed components are properly reinstalled.
The manual does not list specific vehicle compatibility. Check with the manufacturer or your vehicle's owner's manual to confirm fitment before purchasing.
Maximum stop/turn light: 1 per side (2.1 amps); maximum tail lights: 5.0 amps. Do not exceed the lower of your towing manufacturer's rating or these limits, as overloading can cause fires.
Test the installation with a test light or trailer once all connections are complete. All connections must be fully made for the T-Connector to function properly.
Yellow wire connects to the driver's side taillight wiring, green wire connects to the passenger's side, and white wire is the ground connection secured to the vehicle's frame or cross member.
