Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

Yes, the 2014-2023 Ford Transit Connect Tekonsha Plug & Play T-Connector Adapter Trailer Wiring 118613 (Part #TK118613) is designed to fit the 2014-2023 Ford Transit Connect.
The 2014-2023 Ford Transit Connect Tekonsha Plug & Play T-Connector Adapter Trailer Wiring 118613 (Part #TK118613) Drilling is required for installation. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The T-One® T-Connector is a wiring harness adapter that allows you to connect a trailer to your vehicle's electrical system. It interfaces with your vehicle's existing taillight wiring to provide power for trailer lights. The system includes a black control module, color-coded wires (yellow, green, white, and black), connectors, and a 15-amp fuse holder.
Yes, the T-One® T-Connector part number 118613-037 is designed for the Ford Transit Connect. This is the only vehicle application listed in the manual.
You will need: trim panel remover, 10mm socket and ratchet (or 10mm wrench), drill with 3/32" drill bit, 1/4" socket, wire crimpers, wire cutters, Phillips head screwdriver, and a test probe. These tools are required to remove access panels, disconnect and reconnect wiring, drill the ground hole, and test the installation.
The kit includes: two T-Connector harnesses with color-coded wires (yellow and green), a black control module, a white ground wire with eyelet, a black 12-gauge power wire, a yellow fuse holder with 15-amp fuse, a yellow butt connector, double-sided tape for mounting the module, cable ties for securing the harness, a screw for the ground eyelet, and a 4-flat connector for storage when not in use.
Yes. You must disconnect the vehicle's negative (-) battery cable before connecting the power wire to the positive battery terminal. This is done in step 8. After all connections are complete and the fuse is installed, you reconnect the negative battery cable in step 9.
Open the rear door and remove the access panel doors on both sides of the vehicle. These panels provide access to the vehicle's wiring connectors at the back of each taillight housing. Use a trim panel remover to carefully remove these panels without damaging the locking tabs.
Begin on the driver's side by plugging the T-Connector harness containing the yellow wire between the vehicle's mating connectors at the taillight housing. Be careful not to damage the locking tabs and ensure connectors are fully inserted. Then route the green wire end up through the trim panel access hole, across the top threshold, and through the passenger trim panel access hole. Repeat the connection process on the passenger's side using the T-Connector containing the green wire.
Yes. For ease of installation, you can attach the harness (both connectors) to fish wire and carefully pull it toward the passenger side. This helps guide the harness through the trim panel access holes and across the threshold.
Yes. You must drill a 3/32" hole on the driver's side near the taillight connectors to secure the white ground wire. Before drilling, verify what is behind the surface to avoid damaging the vehicle or causing personal injury. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.
Locate a suitable grounding point on the driver's side near the taillight connectors. Drill a 3/32" hole at this location. The white ground wire is then secured to this hole using an eyelet and the screw provided in the kit. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.
Mount the black control module on the driver's side using the double-sided tape provided. The module must be mounted with the epoxy side pointing toward the ground to prevent water buildup. After mounting, secure the remainder of the harness with cable ties to prevent damage and rattling, being careful to avoid areas that would cut or pinch the wire.
On the driver's side, locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-Connector black box. You have two routing options: either route the black wire through a grommet and along the exterior frame, or follow the existing wiring along the thresholds into the engine compartment up to the battery. Avoid areas that may pinch or break the wire.
After disconnecting the vehicle's negative battery cable, remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder if not already removed. Cut the fuse holder wire, attach the ring terminal to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable, and secure it. Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge power wire using the yellow butt connector provided. This creates a fused connection between the T-Connector and the battery's positive terminal.
The T-One® T-Connector uses a 15-amp fuse. This fuse is installed in the yellow fuse holder provided and protects the power circuit. The fuse is installed in step 9 after all other connections are complete.
After reconnecting the vehicle's negative (-) battery cable and installing the 15-amp fuse, test and verify the installation with a test light or by connecting a trailer. For the initial test, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. All connections must be complete for the T-One® T-Connector to function properly.
Secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness with the cable ties provided. Be careful to avoid any areas that would pinch, cut, or melt the wire. This applies both after mounting the control module (step 6) and after routing the power wire (step 10). Proper securing prevents damage and rattling during vehicle operation.
Reinstall the threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and any other items that were removed during installation. Be careful not to pinch or cut the wires when reinstalling these components.
Do not exceed the lower of the vehicle manufacturer's rating or the following limits: maximum 2 stop/turn lights per side (4.2 amps total) or maximum tail lights (7.5 amps). Overloading the circuit can cause fires. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual and instruction sheet for additional information on electrical capacity.
Store the 4-flat connector in the rear cargo area when the T-One® T-Connector is not in use.
Yes, you must disconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable before connecting the power wire to the positive terminal in step 8. Reconnect it after installing the 15-amp fuse in step 9.
The system uses a 15-amp fuse installed in the yellow fuse holder provided.
Do not exceed: 2 stop/turn lights per side (4.2 amps) or 7.5 amps for tail lights. Overloading can cause fires.
Test with a test light or by connecting a trailer. Reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. All connections must be complete for proper function.
Verify that all connections are complete. Test the installation with a test light or by connecting a trailer. Reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. Ensure the 15-amp fuse is properly installed in the fuse holder. Check that all connector locking tabs are fully seated and that the yellow and green wire connectors are fully inserted into the vehicle's taillight connectors.
