Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

Yes, the 2016-2022 Honda HR-V Tekonsha Plug & Play T-Connector Adapter Trailer Wiring 118673 (Part #TK118673) is designed to fit the 2016-2022 Honda HR-V.
The 2016-2022 Honda HR-V Tekonsha Plug & Play T-Connector Adapter Trailer Wiring 118673 (Part #TK118673) Drilling is required for installation. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the T-One® T-Connector part 118673-037 is designed for the Honda HR-V.
The T-One® T-Connector is a trailer wiring harness that connects to your vehicle's taillight wiring to provide power for trailer lights. It includes a black box-module that controls the electrical connection and must be fully connected for proper function.
Required tools are: trim panel remover, 10 mm socket and ratchet or 10 mm wrench, drill with 3/32" drill bit, 1/4" socket, wire crimpers, wire cutters, Phillips head screwdriver, and test-probe.
The kit includes: two T-Connector ends (one with yellow wire, one with green wire), a black box-module, a white wire with eyelet for grounding, a black 12 ga. wire, a yellow fuse holder with fuse, a yellow butt connector, cable ties, and a screw for securing the ground wire. A 4-flat connector is also included for storage in the rear cargo area when not in use.
Yes. Disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable before beginning installation. This is a required safety step before any electrical work.
Open the rear tailgate and remove the threshold, trunk floor panels, and trays. On the driver's side, partially remove the lower interior trim panels, being careful not to damage the clips. Set aside all removed items carefully to avoid damage.
Locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness on the driver's side. Separate the connector carefully without breaking the locking tabs. Insert the T-One® T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock into place, ensuring connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs engaged. Repeat on the passenger's side with the T-Connector end containing the green wire, routing it behind the panels and along the threshold.
Yes. You must drill a 3/32" hole on the driver's side near the taillight connectors to secure the white ground wire with the supplied eyelet and screw. Before drilling, verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.
Mount the black box-module on a flat surface in an out-of-the-way location to prevent damage or rattling.
From inside the vehicle, connect the black 12 ga. wire and the black wire from the T-One® T-Connector black box using the supplied yellow butt connector. Route the black wire either through a grommet and along the exterior frame, or follow existing wiring along the thresholds into the engine compartment up to the battery. Avoid areas that may pinch or break the wire. If routing through a grommet and along the exterior, avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or other points that may pinch or break the wire.
Disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable. Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder if not already removed. Cut the fuse holder wire and attach the ring terminal to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable. Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 ga. wire using the supplied yellow butt connector.
Secure the remainder of the T-One® T-Connector harness with the supplied cable ties to prevent damage or rattling. Be careful to avoid any areas that would pinch, cut, or melt the wire.
Reinstall the plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and other items that were removed during installation. Be careful not to pinch or cut the wires.
Test and verify installation with a test light or trailer once installed. For the initial test, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. All connections must be complete for the T-One® T-Connector to function properly.
Do not exceed the lower of the vehicle manufacturer rating or: maximum stop/turn light 1 per side (4.2 amps), or maximum tail lights (7.5 amps). Overloading the circuit can cause fires. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual and instruction sheet for additional information.
Store the 4-flat connector in the rear cargo area when not in use.
Yes, this connector is designed specifically for the Honda HR-V.
You need: trim panel remover, 10 mm socket/ratchet or wrench, drill with 3/32" bit, 1/4" socket, wire crimpers, wire cutters, Phillips screwdriver, and test-probe.
Yes, disconnect the negative battery cable before starting installation.
Maximum stop/turn light: 1 per side (4.2 amps); maximum tail lights (7.5 amps). Do not exceed these or the vehicle manufacturer's rating, whichever is lower.
Verify that all connections are complete. Ensure the taillight connector locking tabs are fully engaged on both driver and passenger sides. Check that the black 12 ga. wire is properly connected to the yellow butt connector and that the fuse holder is correctly attached to the positive battery terminal. Test with a test light or trailer. If still not functioning, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the ignition key.
Ensure the connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt. Verify that you are inserting the correct T-Connector end (yellow wire on driver's side, green wire on passenger's side) between the vehicle wiring connectors. Be careful not to damage the locking tabs during insertion. Push the connectors fully in until the locking tabs are completely engaged.
