Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

The T-One® T-Connector is a trailer wiring harness system that integrates with your vehicle's taillight wiring to provide trailer lighting connections. It uses a black box module and T-connector ends to tap into the existing taillight circuits on both driver and passenger sides, allowing you to connect a trailer without modifying the vehicle's factory wiring.
This T-One® T-Connector (part number 118686-037) is designed for the Honda Civic Sedan. The manual does not specify which model years are compatible.
You will need: trim panel remover, drill with 3/32" drill bit, Phillips head screwdriver, test probe, 10mm socket or wrench, wire crimpers, and wire cutters.
The kit includes: T-connector ends with yellow, brown, green, and red wires; a black box module; a white ground wire with eyelet and screw; a yellow fuse holder with 15 amp fuse; yellow butt connectors; cable ties; and a 4-flat connector for storage in the trunk when not in use.
Yes. You must disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable before connecting the fuse holder to the positive (+) battery terminal. Reconnect the negative cable only after the fuse holder connection is complete and the 15 amp fuse is installed.
You must open the trunk and remove the taillights on both the driver and passenger sides. Carefully pull the taillights away from the vehicle without damaging the alignment pins. You will also need to temporarily remove the rear threshold plate and partially remove the felt trunk liner behind the taillights.
On the driver's side, locate and disconnect the green 2-pin connector and the black 3-pin connector from the taillight housing. Insert the T-connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors for the green connector, and the T-connector end with the brown wire for the black connector. Ensure connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat on the passenger's side: disconnect the blue 2-pin connector and insert the T-connector end with the red wire. The green wire T-connector end is also used on the passenger's side.
On the driver's side, slit the grommet enough to allow the trailer wiring harness access to the taillight assemblies, then route the T-connector with yellow and brown wires through the grommet from inside the trunk and reseat the grommet. Route the T-connector end with the green wire to the passenger's side behind the panels and along the threshold. For the black 12 gauge wire connecting to the battery, either route it through a grommet and along the exterior frame, or follow existing wiring along the thresholds into the engine compartment up to the battery, avoiding areas that may pinch or break the wire.
Yes. You must drill a 3/32" hole to secure the white ground wire. Before drilling, verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces. Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area, then secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided.
Drill a 3/32" hole for the white ground wire installation.
Yes. On the driver's side, you must slit the grommet enough to allow the trailer wiring harness access to the taillight assemblies. After routing the T-connector through the grommet, reseat the grommet.
Install a 15 amp fuse into the yellow fuse holder provided with the kit.
The T-connector uses the following wire colors: yellow wire connects to the driver's side green 2-pin connector; brown wire connects to the driver's side black 3-pin connector; green wire connects to the passenger's side green 2-pin connector; red wire connects to the passenger's side blue 2-pin connector; white wire is the ground wire that is drilled and secured to a grounding point; black 12 gauge wire connects from the black box module to the vehicle's positive (+) battery terminal via the yellow fuse holder.
Disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable first. Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder if not already removed. Cut the fuse holder wire, attach the ring terminal, and secure it to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable. Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 gauge wire using the yellow butt connector provided. Then reconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable and install the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder.
The black box module is the T-One® T-Connector's control unit. Locate a flat surface in an out-of-the-way place and mount it to prevent damage or rattling. The manual does not specify exact mounting location or dimensions.
Secure the remainder of the T-One® T-Connector harness with the cable ties provided to prevent damage or rattling. Be careful to avoid any areas that would pinch, cut, or melt the wire.
Always wear safety glasses and use all safety precautions during installation. Before drilling, verify what is behind any surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces. When routing the black wire externally, avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, and any other points that may pinch or break the wire. Read and follow all warnings and cautions printed on the tow vehicle's battery. Do not exceed the lower of the towing manufacturing rating stated in your vehicle owner's manual or the specific amperage ratings stated on the product.
The manual states 'Do not exceed stated product ratings' and references the vehicle owner's manual and instruction sheet for additional information, but does not specify the actual amperage or load rating in this document.
All connections must be complete for the T-One® T-Connector to function properly. Test and verify the installation with a test light or trailer once installed. For the initial test, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
Reinstall the taillight housing assemblies, positioning the vehicle wiring harness between the housing and the vehicle body. Reinstall the felt trunk liner, threshold, and other items removed during installation, being careful not to pinch or cut the wires. Verify that all connections are secure and test the installation with a test light or trailer.
Store the 4-flat connector in the trunk area when not in use.

Ensure the 15 amp fuse is installed in the yellow fuse holder. Test and verify the installation with a test light or trailer. For the initial test, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
Verify that all T-connector ends are fully inserted between the vehicle wiring connectors with locking tabs in place. Check that the black wire is properly connected to the battery positive terminal via the fuse holder with the 15 amp fuse installed. Ensure the white ground wire is securely fastened. Test with a test light or trailer to verify proper function.
