Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

Yes, the 2010-2017 Volvo XC60 Tekonsha Plug & Play T-Connector Adapter Trailer Wiring 118739 (Part #TK118739) is designed to fit the 2010-2017 Volvo XC60.
The 2010-2017 Volvo XC60 Tekonsha Plug & Play T-Connector Adapter Trailer Wiring 118739 (Part #TK118739) Drilling is required for installation. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, this T-Connector (part 118739-037) is designed for the Volvo XC60. It integrates with the vehicle's taillight wiring harness located in the access panels on both the driver and passenger sides.
The T-Connector is a wiring harness that integrates with your Volvo XC60's taillight wiring to enable trailer lighting control. It includes a black box module that must be mounted in a flat, out-of-the-way location to prevent damage or rattling. The system requires a 15 amp fuse and connections to the vehicle's battery.
You will need: trim panel remover, 10 mm socket and ratchet or 10 mm wrench, drill with 3/32" drill bit, 1/4" socket, wire crimpers, wire cutters, Phillips head screwdriver, and test probe. These tools are required to remove access panels, disconnect connectors, drill the grounding hole, and test the installation.
Yes. You must disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable before connecting the power wire to the positive (+) battery terminal. The negative cable is reconnected in Step 8 after the fuse holder is installed. Always read and follow all warnings printed on the tow vehicle's battery.
The T-Connector includes: two T-Connector harness ends (one with yellow wire, one with green wire), a black box module, a white wire with eyelet for grounding, a black 12 gauge power wire, a yellow fuse holder, a 15 amp fuse, a yellow butt connector, a ring terminal, and a screw for securing the ground wire. A 4-flat connector is also included for storage in the spare tire compartment when not in use.
Yes. You must drill one 3/32" hole on the driver's side near the taillight connectors to secure the white ground wire with the eyelet and screw provided. Before drilling, verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.
On the driver's side, locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness in the access panel area. Separate the existing connector carefully without breaking the locking tabs. Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle's wiring connectors and lock into place, ensuring connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs engaged. Repeat this process on the passenger's side using the T-Connector end with the green wire. All connector surfaces must be clean and free of dirt before connecting.
On the driver's side, route the T-Connector end with the green wire behind the driver's side trim panel, under the threshold behind the passenger's trim panel to the taillight pocket. Route the black 12 gauge power wire through the opening in the taillight socket, behind the bumper, then along the exterior frame or following existing wiring along the thresholds into the engine compartment up to the battery. Avoid areas that may pinch or break the wire.
Locate a suitable grounding point on the driver's side near the taillight connectors. Drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire with the eyelet using the screw provided. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces. Before drilling, verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
Disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable first. Locate the black 12 gauge power wire from the T-Connector box and attach the black 12 gauge wire provided. Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder (provided). After cutting the fuse holder wire, attach the ring terminal and secure it to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable. Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 gauge wire using the yellow butt connector (provided). Finally, reconnect the negative battery cable and install the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder.
Install a 15 amp fuse into the yellow fuse holder provided with the T-Connector. This fuse protects the circuit and must be installed after the fuse holder is connected to the vehicle's positive battery cable.
Mount the T-Connector's black box module on a flat surface in an out-of-the-way location to prevent damage or rattling. The exact location is not specified in the manual, but it should be secure and protected from impact.
After installation is complete, test and verify the installation with a test light or trailer. For the initial test, reset the vehicle's electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition, then re-inserting the key and turning it to the proper position. All connections must be complete for the T-Connector to function properly.
Do not exceed the lower of the towing manufacturer's rating (including in your vehicle owner's manual) or the specific amperage ratings stated on the T-Connector product. Overloading circuits can cause fires. Refer to the product labeling and your vehicle's owner's manual for the exact amperage limit.
Always wear safety glasses during installation. Before drilling, verify what is behind any surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces. Read and follow all warnings printed on the tow vehicle's battery. Carefully remove and set aside all trim panels and access panels without damaging parts. Be careful not to damage connector locking tabs when separating connectors.
Store the 4-flat connector in the spare tire compartment when not in use.
Yes, the T-Connector (part 118739-037) is designed for the Volvo XC60 and integrates with the vehicle's taillight wiring harness.
You need: trim panel remover, 10 mm socket/ratchet or wrench, drill with 3/32" bit, 1/4" socket, wire crimpers, wire cutters, Phillips screwdriver, and test probe.
Yes, disconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable before connecting the power wire to the positive terminal. Reconnect it after the fuse holder is installed.
Install a 15 amp fuse in the yellow fuse holder provided with the T-Connector.
Do not exceed the lower of the towing manufacturer's rating or the specific amperage ratings stated on the product. Refer to the product labeling and your vehicle's owner's manual.
